Before I even notice it, they had taken most of my days. Probably as with many others, my biggest time wasters used to involve much of technology. From Ddy until night, I would be using the internet for social networking sites such as Facebook, lounging in the couch for some television, or chatting with my friends through my phone. They had engulfed my every day, and had crept to my very life.
Naturally, I had to take steps to eliminate them. It was not especially easy because it would mean turning away from a lot of gadgets. But I was determined then, because school was fast approaching. I told myself that if this was going to work I had to take it slowly but surely. At first, I allowed myself a bit of everything, faintly cutting down on my internet, television and phone use. When I had managed to slightly devoid myself of the “addiction”, I started to insert new hobbies that could be productive and/or helpful to me. I tried listening to music while doing my homework. I started to try the personal approach. Instead of using the phone or the internet, I would personally talk to people around when I feel the need to chat. After I felt the enjoyment and satisfaction of my new hobbies, I began to further bar myself to the old and bad habits by only setting an allowed time for each activity every day and slowly tried to stick to it.
It was certainly a difficult task at first. There were temptations along the way. When I learned to love my new discovery, however, I never looked back.
