Implementing decisions is one of the basic routines by a manager. The challenge of Bailey battling with the problem, Hunt should implement the decision ethically by following the organization codes and enforce the rules. Doctor Bailey problem of Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) was not only bringing problems to herself but also to the people and patient in the hospital. According to Tenbrunsel (2008), major sign of OCD such as repetitive washing hands, preoccupation with religious thoughts and obsession can lead to delays, time consuming and unethical business conduct.
The implementation of Bailey problem ethically is to assist her overcome the challenges associated with OCD. The necessary part is to let the person accept he has the problem and try to evaluate it. Accepting the problem helps one gain self-confidence and belief of overcoming the matter. Bailey should step out of the position and stop performing surgeries until she has regained her control. Ethical decision looks upon the greater good of a situation rather than persuasion of self-interest (Tenbrunsel, 2008). The people that are operated by Bailey are in risk since the OCD condition leads to time wasting and slow mental judgment. This may lead to lose of lives and other critical problems.
Ethical decision making revolves around honesty and benefits to others. The head manager choice of asking Dr. Bailey to step down is an ethically decision since it has effects and benefit to others. Ethical conflicts arises when one pursue self-interest instead of moral values. The hospital should help Bailey overcome the OCD problem by letting Bailey perform surgeries with other qualified surgeon or seek medical counselling until she overcome her problem. The appropriate conduction Bailey problem of OCD should be dealt ethically by looking at the magnitude of the consequences and making decision that benefits other people.
