ITS education method is a teaching tool used in the last years for several recognized educational institution, it allows the student to have and interactive method to learn whatever the subject is, in absent of a teacher through an interactive computational tool, exercises are made with and interface system in order to teach and measure the progress of the student. In the following document an evaluation for a ITS system made to teach mathematics linear equation solution with the Gaussian Elimination Method is presented, each part of the ITS is structure are evaluated (Domain module, student module, pedagogical module and interface module) several experiments were made in the process.
Domain Module: Several real experiments were made; as a result we establish that domain module covers and presents to the student most of the knowledge needed to understand learn and apply successfully the mathematic content pretended. The mathematic platform used is very complete and well based. Especial attention took place in this module in order to ensure that the information presented were correct and consistent, this domain is to be considered as the foundation of the structure therefore the attention applied. The system designed provides the student all the tools needed and also is intended to integrate a dictionary that will contain and concepts that will help the learner the understanding of the matter; by this the system will allow the student to choose content. It is been prove that the domain module is focus correctly to the group that the ITS is intended, this is important given that a single topic can be have different approached depending on the student, the system shall allow significant amount of freedom with regard to navigation the course material and making learning choices.
Pedagogical module: This module is the stage or component of the structure that presents the tutoring or the method used to teach the subject, in this case there are some limitations that lead to some desired futures been left out, mainly due the time limit. The ITS intended employs will employ interactive user profile, but given the situation the pedagogical method utilized uses a simplified tutorial model. There is been establish that the ITS is going to have and interactive format that will adapt its functions and the material considering student profile. Al the features above mention that will give the ITS an intelligent approached are to be integrated in the future. Evaluating the pedagogical module as it is at the moment, a very simple method but effective is used, it presents step by step all the process to correctly apply the Gauss elimination method, it gives the student all the information in short parts and in the precise moment so it will be easy to acknowledge and process all the material. Simpler systems do no integrate adaptive choices for the content presented; the final version of the system proposed will adapt the material presented according to the learning needs of each student and the performance in the given activities also the system as it is promote interactivity in order to allow an exploratory learning experience. As a measure of the amount of knowledge fixed the ITS challenging problems that demands from the student further verbal explanations.
Interface module: the main focus this evaluation is center in the interface student – tutorial, after it was tested by using sample questions presented by the system interface, the results shows that interface module is attracting in the eye for people, easy to use and with clear and assertive feedback to user, and more important the system don’t attempt to bore or fatigue the student which is a important subject to pay attention given the material that it teaches. These results match the design requirements. In addition the interface module invites the student to be assertive and to make constant feedback with the tutorial, and important matter that will be considered in the future interactive tutoring and student module. The communication standard and emerging knowledge considered is in order to the suggested be Dublin Core, will allow that the structure is used in a wide range of learning contexts. The Structure presented in the final version will be using an unify approach, it give the learners a series of actives in order to motive their understanding of Gaussian Elimination Method and its application to real life problem solving. The interface of the structure will do more than just give a “good” or “wrong” response to the student. If the answer for an activity made by the student is no cute as well presented as it should the program will explain the error incur, in this way the feedback and the relation establish student-ITS is the closer that it can get to simulated an human tutoring situation.
