Interactive Assignment
Following the interactive assignment requirements, I followed the guidelines as stated in exploring the events that transpire in a community sporting event. The guidelines of the interactive activity include observing the interaction among the fans, the interaction between players and coaches, opinions of the coaches about the players’ parents, comparing sports in different countries, interviewing trainers and physical therapists, and comparing sporting events in high schools and colleges. This paper shows the responses to the guideline of comparing football as a sport in different countries worldwide.
The football sport is among the leading and most common sports activities globally. Due to the support initiated globally by football fans and players, several differences arise from football (Scotti 1). Some of the differences experienced include cultural differences, violence incidents, and gender differences in football. Accordingly, some of these differences, for example, violence also act as challenges affecting the football sport. Different countries experience similarities in these difficulties. Conversely, the various countries globally experience differences in their approach to these influential factors.
Cultural Differences
Globally, football is among the most widespread sport, which boasts of over a billion fans. From a football perception, football fans from countries such as the U.K., Germany, and France have a football culture where fans share the same motivating passions (Samantha 1). However, soccer fans from other countries have different motivating emotions because football lacks dominance in those countries. Moreover, the football pitches globally have fans with a different culture. Fans globally argue that the football culture acts as a source of hope for them in the soccer field. Despite some countries disregarding some of the football cultures, some people argue that these cultures have several disadvantages, for example, they cause many disruptions. Some people argue that these cultures develop an insane environment posed by the influence of different symbols such as flags, chants among other cultural aspects.
Moreover, some of these cultures constitute a lot of danger to both the supporting and opposing fans. Recently in Europe, the football federation introduced a cultural exception that stated that the football clubs ought to field not less than six players from their respective nations. Similarly, football in Africa has a lot of culture for example, in South Africa where majority of the fans exhibit a lot of cultural images and symbols in support of their football clubs and the national team. The African cup of nations for instance, brings people of different cultural differences from different countries all over Africa.
Incidents of Violence
The football game faces several violence situations due to tension among the fans and a lot the players. These cases of abuse distort the football atmosphere and cause fights and injuries to football fans and players. Reporters globally report of several cases of violence annually especially during major sporting events. For instance, in South American countries of Argentina and Brazil, cases of violence are high because of planned groups with the aim of disrupting football club matches. In Europe, most of the violence results from referee mistakes during critical times in the game. The violence instances occur because of the fans protesting against the wrong decisions made by the referees and the linesmen. The cases of violence cause the football officials to forfeit the matches hence affecting the football calendar. African countries face spontaneous violence whereby unplanned violence attacks occur for example in Nigeria. The cases of violence are also evident in terror attacks for example the case in Paris, France where stadiums experienced chaos after bomb attacks in neighbouring towns. Due to the panic imposed on the fans and the players most of the people sustained several injuries in their quest to escape. To curb the problem of violence in the football pitch, soccer organizations in different countries establish disciplinary actions for players and coaches who go against football rules. For example, in England the football association gives football players bans from participating in certain games in order to serve punishments for their incidents of violence. Countries globally enforce security personnel in football matches to instil law and order in local and international sporting events.
Gender Differences
Currently, football is acceptable for both sexes worldwide. For instance, in Europe, countries establish women leagues where women teams vie for different championships. For example in England, there is a women premiership league where different women teams participate. Similarly, in the United States, the Women Football Association manages the women football leagues that allow different football teams to take part in various competitions. In South American, the football culture supports football for all genders with both men and women participating in the game since childhood. Most of the football talents in South American countries for example Brazil and Uruguay develop during childhood. Moreover, the football world cup brings together women teams from different nations together to compete for the major trophy (Scotti 2). Similarly, the Olympics allow different women football teams to participate in the main event. Therefore, by supporting sports for both genders, football, therefore, helps solve the problem of sex differences.
