PERSONAL CREED
Personal Creed
I believe that there is one God, who is the Creator or heaven and earth, and of all living and non-living things.
I believe in a Supreme creator who is the only judge of human behavior and character and who is the God of God, who created all things.
I believe that my God offers salvation to every living creature and has created a channel through Jesus Christ that allows sinners to repent of their sins and to secure a place in heaven.
I believe that despite the many sins of mankind, God will continue to be merciful to those who seek mercy,
I believe that I can bear all human sufferings as God sent his Son to suffer under Pontius Pilate so that mankind can understand that He understands the trials and needs of the His people.
I believe in the baptism of mankind as the only way to seek a place in the kingdom of heaven.
_____________
My creed has served as the guiding principle to my life and persons who know me are aware of the fact that I believe in the Supreme Creator and his omnipresent and omniscient presence in my life. These persons are also aware that that despite my many efforts to remain true to the teachings of the Bible and of the love and forgiveness of God, I often fall short of following the “ideal” principles and teachings of the God. But, my personal beliefs in the forgiveness of sins allow me to seek forgiveness through prayer. I pray openly for forgiveness and my friends and family are aware that I do seek forgiveness when I am sometimes not able to forgive others.
My creed has changed over the years as I have never truly grasped the need to forgive those who have hurt me emotionally and physically, but after years of personal growth and maturity, I have been able to embrace the teachings of the Bible. Additionally, I have learnt to accept that Jesus was able to forgive those who hurt him when He walked the earth as the Son of Man. Mathhew 6: 14 -15 teaches that if mankind forgives other people who have sinned against them, then the Heavenly Father will offer forgiveness, but if one does not forgive others, and then there will be no forgiveness in the new kingdom (Anselem Academic Study Bible, 2013).
My creed was solidified after having a discussion with a friend who had been unkind to me. I was hurt and vowed never to forgive this friend who I had known for over ten years. She pointed out the number of times I had done wrong in our friendship and she had overlooked all these offense and had forgiven me. It was also this friend who pointed out the reading from Matthew 6, that helped to shape the way I learn to accept that persons will make mistakes, but despite these challenges, a true believer in God would forgive others for having sinned or fallen short of the expectations of friendship and love.
