For many years, the issue of gender inequality has been a problem of greater concern all over the world. Gender inequality refers to the tendency of denying one privileges based on one's sex. This problem manifests itself in the form of sexual harassment, discrimination in the job market and unequal privileges in the society. In India, particularly women suffer human right issues which impact them negatively. Cases of rape, sex slavery, and female genitalia mutilation are very rampant in India. Women's rights are guaranteed in the Indian constitution but in practice the same is not exercised. The essay will try to outline on the cases of gender discrimination and sexual violence in India.
Cases of gender discrimination and sexual harassment are on the rise all over the world. Women get harassed in the Indian society despite the strict laws against this kind of problem. Gang rape is on the rise particularly to the women who cannot defend themselves since they are considered to be very weak. This form of sexual harassment deprives women their self-respect, self-esteem and pride as women. Women are subject to unwanted pregnancies and diseases. The women on equal measure are discriminated at work. They always seen as the weaker gender and therefore cannot execute duties as expected. The also get less payment or even denied some privileges associated with the job. Women in India are forced to work under harsh conditions that deprives off their rights as human beings.

India has been isolated from the international community on these cases of sexual harassment and gender discrimination. Backlash has occurred as different states claim not to be directly involved in the affairs of another a state.
