The process is lengthy as it requires considerable and enlightening debates that affect policy making in the floor of the house.
The bill on the burning of the flag is very important as it is a source of national heritage that should be preserved for the betterment of the future. The flag is a symbol of national unity thus the bill on the burning of the flag is a source of great debate among fellow congressmen. As a representative of an urban area, I am mandated to vote on the bill while having the best interests of the citizens at heart. Key points that form the basis of the two arguments are to be used to determine whether the bill shall be passed or not. The issue is a matter of concern for the residents of my area of jurisdiction. The flag is representative of the life that the Americans who fought tooth and nail in various wars to ensure the continuity of the nation. To burn the flag would be an affront to the efforts the soldiers placed in the fight for the betterment of the nation. Congress should pass the bill to make the amendment as it was taken from Congress.
A viewer had the views that he was with the support of the maintenance of the dignity of the flag as their kids support the flag and this is a requirement to help in showing allegiance to the patriotism of the country. The caller would like the preservation of the flag so as to instill good examples to the children and help foster the spirit of nationalism. The president is also of the view that the Amendment should not proceed as required as he is against flag burning and is opposed to the burning of the protection rights of First Amendments. A caller from Cuba is of the view that burning of flags is not prohibited in the country, and the American laws should not prohibit individuals from expressing their views on nationalistic issues.
Experts on the issue are of the strong opinion that the First Amendment may not weaken. If the flag is desecrated then, that does not desecrate the rights to speech. There are limits that should be used when it comes to the issue of protection of flag rights while maintaining that speech freedom can be protected under the Amendment rules. Another expert who is a law professor is passionate on the amendment as she is wary of the implementation of the rules. The enforcing authority may have problems deciding on how to enforce the rules due to the understanding behind the desecration procedures. The vagueness of the amendment rules does not protect the basic tenets of the rules that are in place thus handing a lot of power to the Congress officials. This may cause a backlog of cases in courts on the areas that require protection. Enforcement is the main issue. Scholars on bills of rights provide a very qualified opinion of the matter as they indicate that such moves would cause the release of new precedents that may be hard to undo after this has been passed. Desecration of the Flag may also lead to amendments that may require the Bible also to be protected. This will lead to increased views on how to save the desecration of other items.
Civic educators are of the view that they can assist in the democratic functions as this will lead to different modalities to explain in class functions as there need to be explanations on the differences that are expected in relation to happiness with the way governments operate. It may be hard to understand how political speech is forbidden in the country, yet the basic educators teach that we are based on democracy. Educators are of the view that one should vote for the amendment. A caller that is rational is of the view that the flag is sacred and that the flag should be protected at all costs. There is an expression of patriotic action that is required against those who do not value the flag. It is a dishonor to war veterans as they fought and paid with their lives and limbs for the sake of their ideals as such the flag should be kept safe. Moral standards of the country are lowered on the acceptance of allowing flag desecration. Just because some things seem right does not mean that some actions are justified. Tolerance should not mean desecration of flag rights. Party members are of the view that the amendments unnecessary and as such individuals should be punished for destruction of public property and not necessarily for burning the flag as the occurrence of this is very minimal. Senator Fernandez provides a very strong opinion that indicates that the American people though diverse are brought together by the flag, therefore, it is important to uphold the ideals that bring us together, and the flag is a symbol of unity that must be preserved.
I vote for the prohibiting of Flag desecration as this is an affront against the preservation of symbol that brings us together and a symbol of national unity. The flag should be preserved so as to ensure that this is maintained at all costs. Perpetrators of flag desecration should understand the ideals that are upheld by the flag.
