Communication: Journal Entry
Communication- 215 is a three-hour long class where we are taught story making and writing. I really enjoy this class. Our teacher comes up with these new problem-solving, critical thinking and other exercises that make us think and decide. We’re always made to write journal entries for every chapter we cover. The long duration of the class would normally make anyone drowsy and some of the other students do try to doze off. But she makes sure that no one succeeds in catching a nap! She engages our class in active discussions, and I really admire her sense of humor. Time literally flies by in her class. And so, I’d say that I really look forward to Communication class every day anxiously.
Story Scene- First Reaction
I was cutting vegetables when I accidentally cut one of my fingers. I was hurt, but I didn’t care. I carefully washed off the blood and then proceeded to mend my wound. There was only one thought on my mind “If only she was here.”
Story Scene- Slowed Reaction
I was in my house cutting vegetables for lunch one day. I was lost deeply in my thoughts and wasn’t focused at all on the task-at-hand. Suddenly, I felt an agonizing pain in the index finger of my left hand. I looked down and saw red, warm blood gushing out from a deep knife cut I had accidentally inflicted on myself. But I didn’t panic or shriek in pain. I quietly put the knife down, washed my hand and then proceeded to mend my wound using an anti-septic liquid and a bandage. I said to myself, “If only she was here. She would’ve held my hand in hers, helped me clean my wound and told me to rest, while she would’ve finished chopping up the vegetables.”
