It is no secret that the global economy is under much strain. That being the case, many companies resort to downsizing and cutting unnecessary costs wherever they seem to occur. This prevention of unnecessary expenditure, however, can essentially cost the company in many other ways, ways that could even be difficult to quantify. In the given scenario, three hundred workers’ employment has to be terminated. The question, however, is when they should be notified. This is important as they are involved in an important project. Should the management wait till the project is completed to inform them?
When faced with a decision to terminate three hundred employees, the company has to take many aspects into consideration. First and foremost, how would the company be affected by this decision? It becomes necessary after careful analysis to keep expenditure at a minimum. As the information would have a negative effect on the project, it is best for the company to wait until the project is completed.
Given this situation, I believe the company should do what is fair and ethical. After all, the company has much to lose from an unethical decision.
Terminating the employment of tree hundred workers is a big decision. After having weighed the pros and cons of the situation, what is right, just, and ethical should essentially win the day.
