Know your representative
Having come from San Diego in California, my representative in the U.S house of representative is Susan Davis, a member of the Democratic Party. This lady is very much committed to her duties as a leader and in my opinion; her tenure in that post should be extended from the constitutionally allowed two years to five years or more. Closely looking at the contradicting issues in the U.S constitution, the current phrase of the people choosing a their representative is the best since the people know who can perform better and why while the legislature can just choose their friends of people based on criteria which might not work at the people (U.S government, 2011).
This congresswoman has a lot to admire in her tenure in the house. She has been in several committees one of them being in education and women affairs. In this committee, she insisted on the need for education to all the people regardless of their origin or gender. It is also at this point that she campaigned a lot about women rights and pushed for streamlining of their earlier differences (Adams, 2012).
In this committee, she is well known for insisting on the role of being a good role model. Looking at this point from a broad perspective, role modeling is one of the key issues that cause education in the world to lose taste. By advocating for good role modeling, this lady contributed immensely towards the positive direction in education sector in the United States (Adams, 2012).
The other issue under the education docket mostly advocated for by this congress person is youth mentoring. From her approach, it appears that she had realized that it is at the youth stage that people lose interest in education making them drop out at junior high schools or even senior high schools and stop pursuing education even if the learner is financially well-up (Thomas, 2011).
In conclusion, it is clear that my representative is a pillar of development and success in the US governments in general. Other committees which she has worked in and excelled includes: health care, military and defense and veterans committee (Davis, 2009).
