There have been several comparisons between Macs and PCs, with adverse arguments on the most preferable between the two types of computers. The battle between these commodities has existed for a long time. However, with time people have identified with these machines by gaining adverse knowledge on the uniqueness of the machines. Before the development of Macs, PCs were the most common types of computer as they were compatible to the apps for Windows. Upon the production of Macs, they were not compatible to some of the apps which were developed for PCs. As time passed on, the situation has changed, and most of the apps that are used in PCs are compatible with Macs. Each of these computers is unique in terms of features and application in everyday tasks. However, Macs are the most modern computers in comparison PCs. Macintosh holds more merits in operation than PCs, making it the most efficient and reliable form of computer.
There are several merits that make Macintosh the most preferable computer over PCs. These are defined on several advantages that the computer defines to the user of the Macintosh computer. The main difference that exists is the operations system that each of the computers contains.
Macs are believed to have an advantage over PCs following kind of operating system that Macintosh operates on. Macintosh uses the OS X as the operating system. This system holds some uniqueness which makes it most preferable in comparison to PCs. The OS X operating system, holds the most efficient features, and it is easy to use for its users. The uniqueness of the operating system is based on the advantages that it holds over Windows or Linux (Cunningham, 2012).
Although, Linux and Windows are extremely outstanding operating systems, neither of them holds the simplicity and applicability of OS X. The most outstanding difference between these windows is the proneness to viruses. Although, OS X operating system can also be attacked by a virus, it is safer than the Windows. Windows viruses are extremely common in comparison to OS X viruses. This is based on the modernity of development for this operating system (Cunningham, 2012). Most of the programs that are developed these days are Macintosh specific. Therefore, Macintosh is the most preferable type of computer in the modern world.
The uniqueness and advantages of Macintosh may also be defined in terms of the flexibility of the operating system. This type of computer is not based on only one operating system. It has been developed in such a way that it can hold more than one operating system, which makes it the most efficient computer in the modern world. If a client ever needed windows or Linux on a Mac computer it is easy to install since the computer supports these operating systems. PCs cannot withstand the OS X operating system. This gives Macintosh an upper hand over the PC. Adverse computers users use different operating systems for variant purposes. With a Macintosh, the user has the flexibility of using OS X and Windows in one computer. This is contrary to what may happen on the case of using a PC. As a Macintosh user, one has the option of using windows through the Bootcamp, or through a virtual machinelike the VMware Fusion (Cunningham, 2012). Most of these elements are not applicable to PCs.
The other merit that makes the Macintosh the most preferable is based on the design of the computer. Macintosh machines are the most admirable computers in the market in terms of design for computers. The design is extremely appealing to users. The Macintosh contains the backlit Apple logo, Chiclets-style keys, and backlit keyboard among other outstanding features. Most of these features define the uniqueness of the computer in terms of operations based on the design. The power-life of a computer is extremely crucial in its development and designing. Macintosh is well known for designing batteries for their machines that are long-life. This makes the computer most preferable among computer users (McFedries, 2011). The feature gives the computer the ability to be used in regions where there are problems in power connection since these dives just needs to be recharged every time their battery gets low, this contrary to PCs, which are mainly dependent on direct connection to the source of power. The PCs cannot be used in regions where power connections are not fully implemented.
Design may also be subjective by the sort of material that has been used in the advancement of the machine. The higher the quality of the material used in designing a machine the higher the quality of the machine. Macintosh is extremely considerate of this factor. The company has exposure to high quality materials which are extremely significant in designing the Macintosh computer. This gives the product an upper hand over competitors who are the PC makers whose products are poorly designed based on the materials that were used in making the product. One of the most considerable features of any machine is the screen. For Macintosh, they have heavily invested in the development of high quality screen that is based on the uniqueness in display (Smith, 2012). This gives Macintosh credit on design and use of quality materials in the development of computers.
Different people have different tastes in terms of design of computers. Macintosh has been able to come up with unique designs, which may be preferable to many users of the computer. While developing its computers, Macintosh considers different tastes that different individuals hold on computers. The consideration of the variant tastes that people hold makes Macintosh unique over PCs. Comparing this to PCs; most of the computers are developed in specific designs, which may be common among all computers (Mueller, 2004).
Most of the Macintosh machines are small in size. This makes them easily portable for users. The user can carry the machine along with him or her from one place to another easily without exposing the machines to risks of theft since it is small in size and can be effortlessly carried along in a bag. This is not the same for PCs, which are large in size and may not be carried along with the user. They are designs for use in fixed places like offices but not well adapted for movements from one place to the other (Mueller, 2004).
The Apple Corporation has come out for support to the use of Macs. There have been developments and innovations on how Macintosh should be managed. The company has come up with uniqueness in the computer industry that defines why Macintosh is the best form of computer in the market. The company has introduced Itunes, MagSafe, Multi-touch among other applications to Macintosh computers. This is extremely crucial for the company in fostering competition to its competitors. The innovation in the Apple Corporation is on the Apple Store. This is a place where a user can take his or her Mac if it fails to function accordingly. This is a well designed support for the machine making it easy to purchase and maintain a Macintosh (McFedries, 2011). Charges for the service are extremely low. This is contrary to the case of PCs which do not have any central point through which the machines can be serviced and maintained (Mueller, 2004).
Compatibility with other products within the production of Apple Corporation makes Macintosh favorite among users. In most cases, computers are required to be compatible to other devices like mobile phones. Macs are designed to support apps by other devices like iPhones, and iPods. PCs are not usually compatible with some of these devices rendering it less preferable among most computer users.
Mac has also been uniquely developed for starters. This machine gets to the user with iLife already installed. The iLife consists of iPhoto, iMovie, iWeb, Idvd, AND Garage band, which are extremely decent programs. Windows do not support these elements which are extremely attractive to most of the users. Windows contain Windows Movie Maker, and Windows Media Player, which are not equally reliable to users like the iLife programs.
Based on adverse merits those go along with the use of the Macintosh this machine has become extremely fundamental among its users. The uniqueness of the machine on how it is used by customers has made it famous and preferable in comparison with PCs. Merits for the company range from design, development and use by the customer. The compatibility of Macintosh to different operating systems defines the most outstanding merit over other products like PCs, making it most preferable among its users.
