Personal Statement
Pablo Picasso once quoted, “The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls”. Indeed, an art form, be it a painting, a sculpture, a movie, song, or a structure can be extremely rejuvenating to a patron’s mind and soul. I have been fascinated by the art of designing since my early childhood. I believe aesthetics and visuals are a crucial component of any entity as it helps personify the entity to a great extent. My passion and flair for designing earned me the prestigious task of editing and designing the yearbook at high school which I pulled off with great success.
As I plan to pursue a career in architecture, I intend to major in architecture while choosing Interior Design as minor, as I believe the latter to be an essential complimentary to the former. As the admission panel decides on my merits and aptitude while considering my application, I would like to apprise them about my interests and experiences.
I completed high school from a middle-eastern international school (American). School education was not a smooth sailing for me in the initial period and I scored low during the initial years. However, owing to my hard work, unrelenting attitude, and persistence, I managed to achieve straight A’s and scored the highest GPA in high school. While in school, I enjoyed volunteering for art-based activities, including classroom decoration as well as canvas paintings. Many of my paintings made way to the school walls. I also won award for my art while in high school as an appreciation of my ability. While I devote a heavy chunk of my time to academics, I also dedicate equal importance to my health and fitness. I enjoy playing several sports including basketball and swimming. I prefer swimming to other forms of workout as it helps me spend some quality time with myself while ensuring that my body works out adequately. I have also been honored with an award for my swimming talent while in high school. I enjoy spending my free time with friends or travelling places. I believe travelling to different places, exploring the culture there, and interacting with different people not only broadens one’s outlook, it also inspires one to see and appreciate the artistry and ingenuity of nature and the Almighty.
I sincerely believe that my application will be seen in a positive light and I would be granted a chance to study at your esteemed institution. I am a good team player, well-managed, highly-organized, and a meticulous individual. I shall strive in every possible way to be a valuable asset to the institution through my dedication and hard work.
