Indescribable charm of the Rolling Stones is closely linked with a bright and multi-layered personality of Mick Jagger. Its importance for the group, so long staying on top of glory, not only limited to the fact that Mick almost single-handedly generates the energy that spurts from the stage during concerts the Stones, sings, writes lyrics and has been actively involved in the creation of new compositions. Surprisingly multifaceted and somewhat contradictory nature allows Jagger to perform at least significant duties and in the background. Rolling Stones do not use the services of the manager - because they have Mick Jagger, who is no lawyer, accountant or broker, and certainly not in any way PR-agent could not show anything new. In the cold world of payments and profits, Mick owns a situation like no other rock stars.
The issue of who is a Mick Jagger actually asked hordes of journalists and writers. Here he Jagger never contributes to a clarification. Instead, he stubbornly sends researchers astray - deliberately, and often by chance, trying to disguise the situation even more. For thirty-three years of existence of the group, he has given hundreds of interviews. Depending on the mood, he was easily able to trace around your finger, frankly over them just for fun to make fun or successful use as a catalyst for further entanglement of the situation around him and his group (Gilmore). There is one person who can understand the origins and childhood Mika.
Keith Richards, he grew up in Dartford, a small town located to the south of London, in Kent. This parallels in biographies of Jagger and Richards to an end. Family aspects of childhood Mick Jagger atypical for the first time in England (Gilmore). He grew up in a financially secure middle-class family in which, moreover, has never been a serious interpersonal problems.
Jagger have been deprived of childhood adversity. Relatively easy and without conflict were the relations with parents. Mick without exception described as intelligent student who without stress to cope with all tasks; he does not remember as a very diligent student, but in cohort bullies in those days was not included. At the same time, even then it was possible to see the personality. Sports, actively encouraged by his father for many years occupied a lot of space in the life of Mick. Over the years, gradually crystallized unmistakable traits that cannot be explained because of some key events in his life. In Jagger's increasingly developed a serious interest in the rather exclusive things. These include, inter alia, relates his fascination with black blues music, which was at that time almost unknown in England (Gilmore). For genuine surprise classmates, Mick easily distinguished bubble-gum-pop a la Elvis from real music, and, in his personal opinion, the music had to be so black and difficult to understand as possible. The impact of the blues came from the United States via the radio stationed in England for the American troops. At the age of 8-9 years the little amused Meek to drop their relatives during family holidays, just copying the voices of prominent politicians, major radio and popular performers hits. After a couple of years he was able to achieve some success, developing the talent - Mick became passionately sing lyrics favorite blues.
Few friends share his extravagant tastes, although there were still those whose passions were close to him. Blues became a passion for Jagger. He even wrote a letter to Chicago at Chess records, to be able to order a plate of performers sacred for him right from the source. There were prerequisites to the base of their own group. Despite this, Mick did not cease to be engaged in learning, though, and tried as much as possible to achieve the goal with the app a minimum of effort. After school, he said that probably in the future will become a diplomat, politician or journalist, and, of course, earn a lot of money. Then Jagger arrived in London titled Higher School of Economics. Fate brought Mika with Keith Richards at the railway station in Dartford - this time, in fact, is the moment of the birth of the group, and the meeting was certainly crucial for both. Jagger was heading to the University of London, Richards went to study in its School of the Arts (Gilmore). Both were just nodding know, and do not be Jagger in the hands of a few plates of Chess Records, perhaps, no conversation would have ensued. One day, in 1963, these are two completely different people feel incredible understanding and their common musical tastes. From that moment Richards joined the amateur rehearsals Dartford blues enthusiasts gathered around Mick Jagger and Taylor, later founded the band Pretty Things (Gilmore). Despite the fact that Jagger took part in the project, body and soul, all the time made itself felt his strictly rational and, at the same time, indecisive side. At this stage, the musician's career seemed to him too risky, precarious and dangerous enterprise. It is strongly deviated from the final decision, was looking for replacement options and tried as long as possible to leave for myself all options are open at the same time, knowing that soon the day will come when people will finally select: group or study, where the study is equivalent to the future professional career and position in society.
It makes sense that Jagger and Richards moved to London. Here Mick was much closer and the university, and to the music scene at a time. Launched apartment Edith Grove, where they settled down with a few friends, turned into a place where they were born Rolling Stones. Mick very soon understood that the London School of Economics is not the institution where he can study in between times, and further study in which constantly demanded new knowledge of the areas, he was absolutely not interested (Gilmore). At the same time, Jagger and Richards persistently sought access to the elite stage of rhythm and blues. Soon they met Brian Jones, who at that time, against the background of complete inexperience of both advanced in music much further (Gilmore). Somewhat later, Jones also moved to the apartment Edith Grove. We began a very hard time. The trio trying to survive in deplorable conditions. They lived as a tramp past - without heating, in the mud, in the midst of mountains of garbage, completely covered by only one idea - to bring up something very significant and serious.
Jagger left his studies at the London School of Economics only when the glimmer on the horizon, the first evidence of the success of the group - such a thing is very characteristic of him. Yet he remained an escape route - Jagger took a sabbatical for a year, so that in case of complete failure to be able to continue their studies. Mick never considered Stones his solo project created to satisfy his or her own vanity (Gilmore). He was already thinking about a group of categories in one piece, recognizing at that time the leadership of Jones and admiring the tenacity Richards.
The reason for the leadership of the Jagger was his demeanor on stage. Mick quickly turned into the optical center of the Stones show. Very soon he noticed that he manages to completely master the attention of the public, if you do more than just stand still at the microphone. The more active and sharper Jagger moved, the more violent reaction it evoked in the viewer. Its transformation into a dervish on stage has always been equally the result of calculations and emotions, which is typical for almost all decisions and actions of Jagger (Gilmore). Over time, certain inclinations and character traits are reflected in the actions of the stars - sometimes more, sometimes less, but never one face did not disappear completely, except that sometimes the time left in the shade. Almost all of the 60 years it was filled with the pursuit of artistic expression, the need to demonstrate their unbridled hand - thus he sought to have it all the time like in the first place: to be completely independent and to anybody never be justified (Gilmore).
He did not have hard to create and maintain the image of a bogey for law-abiding citizens. He just really corresponded to this image, and in addition, a lot happened by itself. At the same time, Jagger was not trying to completely get rid of some of the features that are not typical of his image. Mick never broke off contact with his parents, he was constantly visiting them - simply because they have always been necessary for him (to this day his parents are in good health). He used drugs and alcohol, fully conforming firmly rooted stereotypes about themselves, and in fact is constantly trying not to cross the line and in reality, much less eat grass, pills and cocaine than people think (Gilmore). Jagger, a sex symbol and a heartbreaker, looking for a serious relationship with women, wanted to create a family and have children. This desire has always prevailed, however, it did not prevent him often enough to bet the relationship temporarily preferring short-adventure novels. Here, nothing has changed to this day.
Like the other members of the group, Jagger got bitten by Allen Klein, who began to study the financial affairs of the Stones since 1966 (Gilmore). Only small crumbs fall to the Stones in the form of checks and remittances from overseas, and even then, usually after many entreaties and persuasions. The experience of this sweet communion with Klein gave an excellent opportunity to reveal Jagger's abilities as a businessperson. In a fury of deception on the part of Klein's increasingly obvious Jagger vigorously took up the search for a solution to this problem. As a real businessperson, he became a frequent visitor to the offices and the offices of many lawyers, bankers and audit firms, quickly won the confidence in these circles. Mick was able to understand the many intricacies of business on the fly. In addition, he made friends among the major businesses, such as, for example, Prince Rupert von Lowenstein, an aristocrat and the banker senior international financial business (Gilmore). Lowenstein took first acquaintance with the extravagant rock star with a certain degree of irony, but quickly noticed that it has other, much more serious side, and Jagger has plenty to offer and without accompanying his image tinsel. In addition, it was a very serious amount of money. Lowenstein, a very rich man, to what it was trying to make a quick profit on someone else more (Gilmore). Since then, the prince and Jagger alone do financial problems of the group. But even the most serious consultations have not prevented Klein emerge unscathed. The long process against him has not been brought to the end and stopped prematurely because the money was returned; there were only a small part of the amount by which the group filed a lawsuit against Klein. Nothing like that was impossible to prevent in the future. Since 1970, Jagger became the manager or, more appropriate to say, the chairman of the management board of the group. If Jagger was not possible to carry out brilliantly in this life, then, due to a variety of problems in the early 70's group would cease to exist (Gilmore). Of course, Jagger and spurred that group would mean failure, eventually, and the end of his personal independence.
But, no matter how interesting the world was vocalist Stones balances, shares and exchange rates, the figures are often unbearably boring. And he turns back into a musician, father of the family, or simply wandering dreamer. He though that life is not so simple that every human being is just what you at first glance it is possible to see. And in another interview: I like to change my own self I always have to change color like a chameleon, to keep their true colors.
Jagger spectrum of interests is very wide; many of them are very conservative and practical. He tries not to miss a single tournament cricket, always ready to argue passionately about it and interested in football from an early age. It is quite closely following political life. Tom Driberg, an MP from the Labour Party for many years was his frequent companion. Driberg, who died in 1976, even tried to convince Mick start his own political career. For a time, Jagger even seriously thought about this opportunity (Gilmore). It is well informed about the political intricacies; however, few politicians enjoyed his respect. Czech President Vaclav Havel is one of the exceptions. With him Mick largely binds general outlook, and he is a frequent guest at the Havel in the house. Jagger was well versed in English and American literature, reads a lot and having fun talking about it (Gilmore). Although it is safe to be called an expert in the world of antiques, Mick himself prefers to live among the things of the modernist style. The wine is also one of the skates Jagger. In its cellars stored a rich collection of various wines. In short, he knows how to live and appreciate the real style. However, it can hardly be mad at anything. For example, in spite of his considerable fortune, Jagger quite stingy, and, at the same time, he continually supports about 60 unknown musicians’ large sums (Gilmore). He still serves as the chairman of the board of the board, though, at least for 15 years is not flatters his vanity financier. Incredibly, over time and with age it gets better all over. Surely this is not only due to iron discipline. In the early 80s he smoked his last cigarette, had previously ceased to touch drugs before and does not drink any alcohol drops during the tour, but at other times makes it quite willingly - sometimes to quench their thirst, it is necessary to much more than one glasses (Gilmore). He almost every day runs several kilometers and supports himself in great shape. While Jagger performances on stage gives the impression that he does not age, it seems to us that this is a phenomenon of eternal youth. In fact, many years ago, he, if desired, could gradually change the style of behavior on stage, to better suit his already advanced age, without the threat of being subjected to criticism for it (Gilmore). Instead, Jagger and the Stones regularly travel to the concert tour. We can confidently say that he is able to continue without any apparent torment to play a concert program for several days without the need for breaks between performances, with an oxygen bag on hand. If it were otherwise, if he had been more difficult to play concerts, and he began to doubt their own abilities, the singer of the Stones, as we see it on the stage, would not literally in the blink of an eye. Nevertheless, once it happens. Just think: one day hear a storm of applause, not to turn a wave of the hands of people who come to your concert and captivated the entire football stadium, in a boiling pot - it must be awful.
Jagger is still repeatedly led to the astonishment of the entire world - even against the most daring expectations, or, quite the contrary, the most pessimistic forecasts. To prove his own, and so indisputable class and convincingly demonstrate that no one can compare with him. To hold out as long as possible in the same rhythm, Jagger tries to avoid thinking about it. After all, the more he will think about it, the sooner it can have doubt in their own abilities. So he completely ignores the question and always achieves the desired result. In so doing, it helps a lot, one of his very important feature: no matter how completely developed personality Jagger may have been in their 58 years, some things he still refuses to grow up at all. His solo ambitions mid-80s were at that time completely serious and could easily blow up the Rolling Stones inside. He was ready to go for it, to prove to himself and the rest of the Stones, that without him the group simply cannot exist. In addition to such serious problems as the public perception of Jagger the solo, which was possible to achieve only foam great effort and a huge risk, in his return to the group have played a very important part emotional reasons for the order. 1984-85 years were too late in time for the beginning of an independent solo career, without the Stones. Most likely, he will continue to occasionally release a solo album, but do not treat them very seriously and do not organize their large advertising company. Rational-emotional finding solutions that they themselves invented, also suggests that much more profitable not to allow to fade halo of glory around the Stones, and more.
The composition «As Tears Go By» became one of the first original creations of Jagger and Richards. Until that time, The Rolling Stones played mostly blues stuff. The creation of «As Tears Go By» overgrown with myths. Legend tells that the producer of the band Andrew Oldham locked Mick and Keith in the kitchen, inviting them to come with the new topic. At first, the song titled «As Time Goes By». But it turned out that other song with exactly the same name was used in the movie "Casablanca." As a result, the time the word was replaced by tears. Another myth says that the song was a response to the legendary compositions of The Beatles «Yesterday». But this could not happen at all, since the Beatles hit came only a year after the creation of the "Rolling Stones" ballad.
The song «Gimme Shelter», according to Jagger, devoted to the Vietnam War, or rather, to the feeling that it is somewhere nearby. However, there is another version of the origin and of the composition. The main author of Gimme Shelter was not Mick Jagger but Keith Richards. He wrote it at a time when his girlfriend Anita Pallenberg and Mick starred in the film Performance. In that film there were sex scenes and they were followed by some rumors about the ensuing romance between Jagger and Anita. The song was born at a time when China was overcome jealousy, fear and anger. But these rumors had not been confirmed.
Still only the song «(I Can not Get No) Satisfaction» made "Rolling Stones" really cool rock band. The hit was recorded in June 1965 and led absolutely all the charts on both sides of the Atlantic and became, according to some experts, the best rock and roll theme. The song ranked second in the list of the best songs of all time of Rolling Stone magazine and the first place in the similar rating VH1 channel. Like any other musical masterpiece, this composition has acquired countless parodies and covers. In a different manner rehash it not only rockers, but also pop artists.
