Psychology will help in all aspects of life, because it dictates the thoughts and motivations of humans. With a broad understanding of psychology, it becomes easier to understand people. One who can understand people is able to better interact with others and level with them on many issues. This is helpful when it comes to jobs and personal relationships. In relationships, I do believe that empathy and sympathy are necessary traits of positive interactions. Since money is such a necessity, in one way or another, a person will need to have money, or make money. That’s why it is important to be able to hold down a decent job. With a better understanding of people, job security could follow, and lead to a more stable life.
One of the psychologists I enjoyed the most was B.F. Skinner. His theories were practical and comprehensive. He broke human behavior down into very simple terms. Through him, we understood that all behavior is motivated by the consequence that follows it. Reinforcement can strengthen a behavior, and punishment can weaken a behavior. Skinner’s contributions to Behaviorism makes individuals understand their own motivations in life. It then, also becomes easier to see the motivations in the actions of others.
Psychology rules everything around us. The lessons are so helpful and can lead to a more productive life with others. It isn’t hard to understand why people act a certain way, or want certain things, for it is all about the strength of reinforcement. People are either working for something, or trying to avoid something. That is basic human nature. If one can comprehend that concept, then psychology will always make plenty sense.
