The world is full of mysteries and some of these mysteries are above the understanding of science, which even after having progressed a great deal in last two centuries fails to offer any rational explanations to such mysteries.
Crop Circles are one of such mystery phenomenon, which has for long eluded any valid and credible scientific explanation. Crop circles are patterns that appear in fields. The pattern is created when certain areas of the crops are tamped down, but others are totally intact (Wilson, n.d.). The patters formed are of different shapes and sizes and the phenomenon dates back to 16th century. Though various theories and explanations have been put forward to decipher the real cause behind the formation of crop circles, none has succeeded thus far. While some blame or credit the formation of these circles to the precise, restricted and express localized wind conditions, or by scientifically undetectable Earth energy fields, others have claimed that crop circles can be explained by an extraterrestrial theory (Radford 2013). The scientists lobby hasn’t been able to contend to any of these theories as final or satisfactory but they accept that crop circles are ‘real’ and hence signify the mysterious nature of crop circles. A study on crop circles funded by Laurence Rockefeller concluded that it could be possible that crop circles could be the effects of some new or yet undiscovered energy source (Kean and Talbot, 2002).
This clearly shows that crop circles have baffled scientists and experts across the globe and continue to do so. There hardly seems to be an explanation, which could fit centrally to describe and validate the formation of crop circles across the world. Some even believe that rate of formation of crop circles has increased off-late, but that is as much mysterious as the process of formation of crop circles is.
