Natural ecosystem is a linkage of natural organisms that depend on each other in order to survive. The bond created between natural organisms involves the interdependence between plants, human beings and animals. In most biological studies, human beings have been placed under the category of animals. This is simply because they possess the characteristic of moving around in search of food and shelter (Nabokov 2007). There are many preservation areas which have been created to preserve native species of organisms. It is important to preserve such species since they remind us of the history of a certain area. They are also an attraction to outsiders who come to visit the country.
One of the national parks that have been known to be preserving native species in our area is the Red Wood national park. This national park is situated in California. Based on its historical information, it was formed in 1968 (Castillo 2009). This park is along the coastal areas. As the name suggests, the most important species that is preserved in this park is the Red Wood tree. In this area, these trees have been known to be growing together. This is the major reason why the area consists of thick forests. Apart from this tree, other species of plants found in this area include flora, prairie and fauna.
In this park, there are also animal species that are being preserved. Most of these animals are adapted to live near the coast. The forest nature of the national park is also a favorable adaptation for them. One of the animal species in this area is Brown Pelican, which have been known to attract the many tourists who visit the area. The other animal species include Bald Eagle, Tidewater Goby and Northern Spotted Owl. The other feature of Red Wood national park is the existence of rivers that provide water for the various animals in the area (Castillo 2009). There are also cultural resources that are important to tourists who are interested in cultural affairs.
Human activities in this park have affected the lives of organisms in this area. For instance, the lives of the animal species are threatened by poachers. However, this has been reduced to a large extent by the management. Some of the native plant species have been replaced by non-native species. This has reduced the overall coverage of the Red Wood species. In the past years, the area had been affected by cases of fires, especially in areas where there were thick forests (Castillo 2009). The demand for timber has been increasing over the years. This has increased the number of people who want to cut trees in order to get timber.
Knowledge about ecosystems should help us to solve problem related to the national park. For instance, the management should create awareness programs to educate outsiders on the importance of maintaining native preserves (Nabokov 2007). This knowledge has indeed helped the management to come up with ways of preventing deforestation and fires in the forest areas of the national park. Red Wood national park is being improved and indeed the management has put efforts to restore the area back to its initial position. The management should also ensure that the services offered in this park are improved in order to attract more tourists. This can be done by performing excellent training to the people working in this national park.
In conclusion, the management can increase revenue from tourists by providing lodgings in the area. They should ensure that these lodgings are secure from any fires and wild animals in the park. This park has no hotel within its coverage area. If hotels are opened within the area, tourists will have easier access to snacks and other food materials needed during their visit. The national park should be maintained properly in order to restore its beauty. The management of Red Wood national park should ensure that all native species in the park are protected from any cases of fire, deforestation or pollution. This will ensure that the reputation of the area is maintained. Finally, proper management of the national park will enhance the attraction of more tourists in the area. This will lead to increased revenue for the government and foreign currency exchange for the country.
