New media refers to the emerging of digital, computerized information and communication technologies such as the internet. Common software is ArchiCAD. With ArchiCAD, it is easier and faster to design houses. CD’s and DVD’s allow for the transfer and storage of information without having the need to print them. Social media such as LinkedIn allows for the development and expansion of business networks of individuals in my profession. Facebook is another social media that has allowed and increased interaction with my peers interested in the same things as me. During my free time, I may get involved in playing video games such as Angry Birds and Need for Speed.
Social media uses web-based and mobile technologies to present a more interactive dialogue between users. Currently, there has been an increase in the use of different apps in the mobile technology. For instance, WhatApp and WeChat are gaining popularity in the context of instant messaging. Additionally, different apps can provide artists with platforms for developing art and engaging different audiences.
The web page design showed created a lot of visual flow. This was achieved by varying and alternating the density of the different graphic elements of the web page. The different array of colors was appealing and drew one’s attention to the contents of the web page. Furthermore, I would consider the design elegant, as one was not forced to scroll around. All the information could be captured in a glance of the screen.
Creation of the computer screen layout is a combination of both the software designer and the web designer. The software designer provides a platform on which the web designer will use to develop his designs. The initial design by the software designer needs to provide ease of use and navigation, which the web designer will use to develop his web pages. The web designer has to work with the platform provided by the software designer to arrange his graphics and text images to achieve optimum screen layout.
Digital media has allowed the artists to bypass the traditional process involved in reaching the public masses. Artists do not necessarily have to look for recording companies or bookstores to display their works. Video content that is being uploaded on YouTube is increasing on a daily basis. Artists are developing followers via social media such as Twitter through which fans and public can connect with the recent activities of an artist of their choosing.
The experience with digital images is of higher quality. Advances in technology allow artists to modify and enhance the quality of their work. Image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop is increasingly being used in the processing of digital images. Bigger computer displays are being developed with high specifications and this has helped enhance the quality of images. 3-D technology has been an important factor in enhancing image quality. Artists can save their images on the internet and this can help prevent loss of images.
New media enhances the learning experience of artists. Real time visual media allows the artist to connect with issues that affect them directly. New media also allows the reconstruction of old media. Through scanning of old images, artists can be able to recreate the original works of fine art. Furthermore, through social media, more audience can be informed of great arts of work that were done by artists’ long time ago. Knowledge sharing is enhanced through new media (Munster 57).
