As a nursing professional, I am a dedicated practitioner who is seeking to advance my career by pursuing an advanced degree as a nurse anesthetist. During the past six years while practicing as a critical care nurse I have been considering this as my next step and have decided that this is the time when I should advance my education. I wish to continue serving my patients but desire a position where there is more of a family and patient relationship while the professional aspect enables me a more autonomous experience. My desire to continue to excel in the nursing professions is coupled with my team leadership abilities and my desire to learn at a higher level. Pursuing an advanced degree will fulfill these desires and enable me to advance in my career.
I have advanced educationally over the past fifteen years while working in the medical field. Initially I had earned my dialysis technician diploma. I proceeded in my education by earning my A.S. degree in culture, science, and technology. My B.S. in nursing followed where I was also awarded the student activity achievement award due to services and significant contributions to my school, LaSalle University. I am presently completing my MSN degree from LaSalle due to their fine reputation and their excellent nursing program. My specialization is in the nursing leadership program. Since I know that I am capable and possess natural leadership abilities and desire to continue to excel in the nursing field, I wish to continue my education right into the nurse anesthesiologist program.
I am a member of the American Nurse Nephrology Association and am certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, basic life support, IV certification, and advance cardiac life support. I have worked in intensive care units where I have been a member of the medical team contributing to continuity of the care of the patients. I also have experience working as a member of the nursing team on the telemetry unit. I have also worked on units specializing in inpatient hem dialysis which has included reporting lab values and other pertinent information to nephrology physicians. Other experiences include work on progressive care, cardiac care, and cardiac thoracic units. I have at times been assigned total nursing care for certain patients, including patient education and the training of other healthcare professionals. I have conducted routine care such as recording patient information, obtaining current medication information, and maintaining vital signs and operating 12-lead EKGs. I am trained in CPR and how to ascertain individual conditions and needs of the patient.
My past education and experience, coupled with my ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professions so that optimal patient outcomes can be made help to qualify me as an ideal candidate for the nursing anesthetist program. Additionally, I am able to think quickly, logically, and effectively during times of crises. I have the ability to manage multiple tasks and patients with great efficiency and coordinate their care with maximum effectiveness.
