Tourist destinations have a life cycle and a typical cycle begins with the exploration stage. Thereafter, it moves to the involvement stage then the development stage. The next stage is the consolidation stage where it then moves to the stagnation stage. At this point the destination has already been known and its resources have been used up. What succeeds this stage is either rejuvenation or a decline. In the case of Paris, it can be said that it is in the stagnation stage since many are aware of the city and its environs as a great tourist destination and have thus been visiting the area for quite a while. However, it is slowly moving into the rejuvenation stage since the city seems to keep attracting tourists in recent times while other attractive spots become obsolete (Fallon, 2008).
