I have always had an interest to pursue a career in the engineering field. From an early age, I knew that the field of engineering would be the perfect choice for my future studies. However, due to the fact that engineering is a wide field, I was often undecided on the branch of engineering that I wanted to pursue. As a child, I enjoyed dismantling my toys in an attempt to discover what they were made of. I would then try to re-assemble the parts. Later, in my teens, I discovered that I had a strong passion for maths and chemistry. These subjects were my favourite in high school. Consequently, after graduating from high school, I enrolled for a degree course in Chemical Engineering at the American University of Beirut. I am currently in my 4th year of study.
During my studies, I have had the opportunity to discover a variety of subject areas, including organic and physical chemistry, thermodynamics, electrical engineering, instrumentation and measurements, and separation processes. During my studies I decided that the Energy technologies sector would suit me best. This decision was informed by the fact that I was fascinated by the significance of energy technologies in the modern world. I recently spent my summer in Frankfurt, Germany where I was an intern at a water and wastewater treatment company (Passsavant Roediger). My interest in energy technologies was heightened and I know that I would like to use my knowledge in chemical engineering to help in improving the environment by applying renewable sources of energy. I appreciate the fact that research in energy technologies is critical to the stability of human society now and in the future.
My desire is to pursue a master’s degree in Energy technologies at Dartmouth, Thayer School of Engineering. I am particularly interested in this program because it focuses on research in energy technologies in resource and environmental analysis. I live in a region where natural resources are nearly depleted. I believe that waste control is necessary, since water and the surrounding environment need particular attention and proper methods of waste control should be applied. Without a doubt, a master’s degree in Energy technologies will enable me to gain knowledge of the exciting opportunities in terms of meeting the challenges of future energy technologies. Furthermore, I will be able to acquire the interdisciplinary knowledge that is essential for coping with the intricacy of future energy systems. Thayer School of Engineering is a top ranked engineering school that will enable me to build a solid foundation for a successful career in energy technologies, and to gain hands-on experience to practice and apply the knowledge and skills that I have gained in my undergraduate studies in theory and in practice.
I possess creative, entrepreneurial and leadership skills that will be imperative in fostering the creation of innovative ideas and turn them into inventive products and processes. I consider myself to be an accurate, devoted individual, and I always desire to be involved in activities that have a positive impact on the society at large. Without a doubt, further studies in energy technologies - resource and environmental analysis, will enable me to contribute positively to the environment and take part in building reliable, sustainable, efficient and environmentally compatible energy technologies in the future.
