Example Of Personal Statement On Pursuing My Business Dream

My sole focus now is to own and operate my own business in the United Kingdom. I can attest that I have held to this dream ever since I was a child. As I grew older, I came to understand the advantages of operating one’s own business. These rewards are my principal motivators; the ability to control own destiny since the sky is the limit for shrewd businesspersons, not to mention being your own boss. An additional motivation is the chance one has to run a business flexibly by taking advantage of opportunities that arise in the market place, and translating them to greater monetary rewards. I believe now is the right moment for me to think of the logistics that would drive me towards accomplishing this dream.
The idea seems overly ambitious for a senior high school student, but I believe am equipped with what it takes to run a successful venture. I see myself belonging to the category of shrewd businesspersons because I have a keen interest in economics coupled with the ability to spend money wisely by investing where there is minimum risk and maximum returns possible. Furthermore, I have developed a passion for creating business plans whenever I get a unique business idea that can take off successfully if implemented according to plan. I firmly believe that knowledge is a treasure but success is achieved through practice. Consequently, during my schooling years, besides academic work, I constantly evaluate my strengths and skills by taking part in extracurricular activities. Some of the activities that I have participated in include the ‘Big Buddies,’ a program designed to assist young children who have poor social skills. The others are membership in the ‘Model United Nations,’ and constant visits to the SOS orphanage to have fun and offer hope to children who have lost their parent. These activities have sharpened my managerial skills. I have been able to put into practice concepts learnt in class such as Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and the importance of balancing between relationship and task oriented leadership styles. I am a good manager because I can apply these two styles concurrently by ensuring objectives and tasks are accomplished while at the same time I foster good relations with the subordinates using communication and motivation techniques.
I have chosen the United Kingdom because over the years I have developed an affinity of the diverse English culture that I have been experiencing since I was a child during the past holiday visits. In addition, the nation has enormous business opportunities for entrepreneurs, not to mention the government has implemented policies aimed at encouraging the establishment of small businesses. If I realize my dream of establishing a successful business in the UK, I believe I will give back to my community by establishing similar ventures that will employ the youths in Egypt where the economy has deteriorated since the Arab spring revolution.
