Peter the Great of Russia and Louis XIV of France, were men know for tyrant behavior and for their strength. There weaknesses will always be debated with historians on how it affects their country. Peter the Great was known for creating a strong navy. He reorganized his army with the Western standards. He like the Westerns way so much that he also had the Russian alphabets update to reflect new ties. He helps enforce secularized schools. He provided the Orthodox Church with more control. He also proves more terrestrial divisions of the country.
Peter the Great did not stop there. He develops a passion for science. He recognized the potential growth that science can bring to the technologies of that period. He embraced that idea and further expanded on it. He abolishes the archaic form of government.
Peter the Great was the Great for he was man that accomplishes this and countless other things. He was smart which help with the success of Russia. That is where the critics lie. Countless people state that these changes of higher taxes and Peter the Great being a tyrant weakened the country Russia. It was also stated that his abuse and drunken behavior did not help the matters, as well. No human is perfect.
That brings us to Louis XIV of France. He found absolute monarchy. Louis XIV made the nobles more reliable on him; he sets up rein control of France. He did countless achievements like Peter the Great. The wars that he created, is what put France into the abyss.
Louis XIV put the countries through wars that were not necessary. It left the country broke. These wars are considered by many historians as the worst accomplishments of Louis XIV for weakening the country.
Peter the Great of Russia and Louis XIV of France had their strength and weakness. They help their country but at the same time they also destroy. Their influences on each of their countries will always be remembered.
