World War I
First World War is one of the most important political events that affected the world significantly. The effects of the First World War were long-lasting and the war has changed the boundaries of the nations, affected the relations of the countries, old associations collapsed, new associations were made and the most importantly new powers were emerged on the international forum. The war witnessed the worst phase of the humanity as it caused the deaths of millions of people.
The First World War was declared commenced in July of the year 1914 and it ended officially in the November, 1918. There were mainly two alliances; allied powers and central powers and almost all the powerful countries participated in the war from one side or the other. There were several reasons of this war including the imperialistic policies and ambitions of growing powers, economic interests of the several countries but the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was the instantaneous factor that angered allied powers and the Great War broke out.
The war was officially declared ended in the year 1918 and the Treaty of Versailles was signed between both the parties. The war has substantially affected the economic, cultural, social, political, and military status of the countries, involved in the Great War. The number of people died in the war and in the epidemics crossed the figure of ten million. The economic impact was so harsh, especially for the central powers that it took decades to come out of it. The economic slowdown of the twenties came as one of the results of the world war which left economies of several countries bleeding for decades.
World War II
Second World War is another very important political event that has affected the whole world and even after decades, there are several countries that can not forget the agony of the Second World War. The war was fought between allies and the axis nations and like the First World War, almost every powerful country was participated in this war. The war was commenced in the year of 1939 and was officially declared ended in the year of 1945. Many things were similar between the first and Second World War including causes and results. The reasons were similar and results were also almost same of the both wars. Imperialistic, economic policies and expansion were the main causes of the war but the immediate reason was the invasion of Poland by Germany.
The concept of the Second World War was written at the end of the First World War and the treaty of Versailles was more responsible for the Second World War than the German invasion over the Poland. Germany was aggrieved by the conditions imposed on her by the treaty and Adolf Hitler just aggravated the boiling anger of Germans. Axis powers lead by the Hitler were on the free, many countries of the axis powers were already engaged in full time wars. Everything was going according to their plan but when United States joined the Allies powers, the situation took a U turn and axis powers got defeated badly by the year 1945. US used nuclear bomb over Japan and the world witnessed the most destructive use of the technology.
The war ended in the year of 1945, apart from altering the boundaries of Germany and Austria, several economic, military and territorial sanctions were imposed on the Axis powers. This war proved to be the most devastating war of the human history with of 65 million dead people. The population of the Europe was diminished and the youths were vanished from the society. The economic effects were also equally terrible and it took decades to come out of the economic effects, especially for the Axis powers since they paid heavy amounts to their counterparts after their defeat.
Cold War
The term cold war is used for the relationship between the United States and the united states of soviet republic during the period of the 1946 to 1991. This relationship was started between these two powers after the end of the First World War. Both powerful nations fought together against the axis powers lead by the Germany but they were not natural friends and as soon as the war was finished and their common enemy Germany was defeated, a series of political conflicts, economic competition, proxy wars, and diplomatic tricks started between both the powers. The whole world was again divided into two groups and cold war made a lasting effect on the political and economical affairs of the world.
The USSR and the US both were superpowers and their interests started clashing at several fronts and over several issues. The cold war seemed to be converted in a full time war at several occasions but fortunately the leaders worked diplomatically. The relationship of these two powers faced several crucial stages but diplomatic efforts were also going on simultaneously. The cold war came to an end after the USSR dissolution in the year of 1991.
