As a United States citizen, describe what actions you would take to change an aspect of American or California Government
I. Introduction
II. Body
1. What it is you want changed and why?
I want to change in the way the government takes care of it’s citizens. These days, as a first-world country and only Superpower, I strongly believe that improving socioeconomic (e.g., social and health services) and related services will retain for years to come United States of America’s world status as the best among nations. The equal distribution of life chances, resources, and wealth should be the norm rather than the exception. Because of oligarchy, the US, in reality, is not a wholly democratic nation. There is a gross inequality in wealth income distribution and generation among various groups of society where the oligarchs benefits the most to the utmost disadvantaged of the least well-off members. An individual’s opportunity to accumulate the colossal amount of wealth is a privilege in a democracy, or more appropriately called, oligarchic society. However, the government should set a certain limit to the amassing of wealth such that anything in excess to a billion dollars, for instance, should be owned by the state despite all the efforts, knowledge, “sweat and blood,” inter alia, poured in by an individual or entity. The amount should go directly to the public coffer to be appropriated to various basic human services and programs and not primary due to luck and entitlement that resulted in the oligarchs’ too much affluence. By doing so, the most number of people’s living standard will be set to a higher level incomparable to other nations of the world. Although ideal the idea is, it is not near to impossible for it to possibly come to pass given the digital interconnectedness of people across and beyond geo-political boundaries is previously the reality of the past human history.
2. What you want it changed to?
I want a form of government or political system that is truly ruled, not just by a select esoteric group of billionaires and influential people in American society, but by even the most marginalized or disadvantaged groups of the US federal government. The change starts with the American people until it progresses into the world government (i.e., other than to what is known today as the United Nations’ organization) so that the brotherhood of all men, despite their seeming diversity (e.g., age, gender, current socio-demographic and economic profiles) is sustained for posterity. Since the US government has an effective historic system of government, it should be transitioned into a broader degree and deeper extent. Unbeknownst to many, the US government has the most efficient meritorious educational system whose material implications extend even in the heart of any nations’ resources. For example, the best and the brightest across the world are given unparalleled opportunities (e.g., grants, aids, scholarships) by the US government so that anything that is the US standard is a sustainable global phenomenon. For instance, potential world leaders study in the US in order to be Americanized and then be indebted to it as prime benefactor and ally. No wonder, many world leaders, prior to a “democratic” election seek the blessings of any incumbent US president, not to mention allies of the US chief executive, for a smooth transition of government in their own countries. I have the free expression of opinion that any tangible or intangible goods (e.g., weaponries) that come out of the US have a return of investments more than money can buy.
3. Most importantly, how you would implement the change. Include the exact steps you would take to implement your change. What specific actions would you need to perform to ensure change?
4. Keeping in mind the current political culture, how likely is it that your desired results would occur?
The current political culture is very much conventional and follows the current way of managing the system bureaucratically. What is important in any change is to go with the flow first before gradually implementing drastic actions and then having necessary and sufficient supports from various government agencies, private entities, and other stakeholders. Moreover, it takes more than extra miles, resources, and efforts from any one individual to impose systematically a change through various kinds of policy changes. Advanced and higher courses and programs of study in various educational institutions can help with this change. Likewise, it is the responsibility of each US citizen to see the many advantages and less of the adverse ramifications this change brings. Although the change I have in mind seems too novel to ensure success, there are instances in the annals of world history where a never-before-thought change simply happened as if in the blink of peoples’ eyes. It is simply my foresight and insight into what could possibly happen in the near future that I am especially concerned about. It is important, then, to include in our present political science curricula unorthodox programs of studies that would cater to the changing global needs.
III. Conclusion
So far in this short essay, I have provided a rough outline of what I want to change and the rationale behind it. Specifically, the change I talked to is not unidimensional, but requires multiple perspectives. The change does not necessarily have to begin with or from the grassroots level and the highest echelons of the branches of government, but through synergism. Simultaneously, the change simply has always maintain individualism such that people, even the oligarchs, can always exercise all their rights, but with certain constitutional limits (that is, granting that the US Constitution has changed by then, too, already). I also elaborated above on what I want it changed to, though, I have not coined or pinpointed out a specific jargon to name the change. Despite of that, I have presented overarching ideas and suggestions for the desired results to most probably be achieved. I think there is more than meets the eyes for a reality as novel as this to occur – whether farther from where I started out conceptualizing this paper or in the near future.
