Essay
It is true that to find a professional is quite a task. If I had to choose a leader within the IT environment to have the most of the required qualities, I would definitely choose Grace Hopper.
Grace Hopper is a person who managed to become not only one of American computer scientists but United States Navy Rear Admiral as well.
Her personal characteristics can be considered to be outstanding.
Thus, for example, her persistence, foresight and being pragmatic helped her to invent the first compiler for the computer programming language.
Her organizational traits let her serve on active duty for life. US Navy Rear Admiral Grace Hopper managed to retain a position of a senior consultant to Digital Equipment Corporation until her death at the age of 85.
A good leader, Grace Hopper received numerous awards and recognition. There is even a scholarship in her honor within an employee group at Microsoft Corporation with more than 3000 members of all over the world.
Moreover, she managed to share her knowledge with others as she read the lectures on computer science on the early days of the technology development.
She was definitely aware of how to lead and how to communicate with people. She proved her being highly empathetic by all her life, her deeds, her attitude to the surrounding reality. Is not that amazing to hear ‘The most important thing I've accomplished, other than building the compiler, is training young people. They come to me, you know, and say, 'Do you think we can do this?' I say, "Try it."’ (Gilbert, 2012)?
