Adolescence is a transitional stage that occurs to every individual. The changes of physical and psychological human development do occur from puberty to legal adulthood. The period that this change occurs mostly affects the teenagers into the early stage of and in some points, it does continue to the early twenties .The adolescences stage does affect many of the individual due to the changes that the changes sometimes affect the society. The study of adolescence creates an awareness of the expectation to the individual affected are the reasons for the society to understand them.
The Roles of Peers in Adolescences
The changes in adolescence initially affect the individual and the only solution that derive in their memory is to be close to the peers. The relationship of the peers is more important in the lives of the teenagers because they get the knowledge that they are not the only ones experiencing the changes but even their peers.
The understanding of adolescence based according to the understanding of the society and its culture. The society depends on information from various fields such as biology, history and education. The perspectives define adolescences as the transition stage from the childhood to the adulthood. The society therefore prepares the individual on how to tackle the challenges in the adulthood and the situation that expected to transpire during the maturity. The peers encourage the individuals to be courageous endwise because some of the changes affect their lives.
The peers play the role of preparing the individual on how to relate with the society as the adult during the adolescence. The relationship between the peers and the adolescences create an awareness of how to solve the difficult situation such as they learn on issues like trust, intimacy, respect and acceptance as an autonomous person.
The role of parents in adolescence
Research explains that during the adolescence stage conflicts between the teenagers and the parents affect the family. The conflicts befall due to the emotional changes of the teens and that the parents no longer have the authority to rule them due to their maturity. Most of the parents understand the situation and they research on the ways to handle the conflicts during the period.
The parents play an important role to the teens by motivating them that the stage and the physical changes are just compulsory to all the individuals. The parents understand the state of affairs of the teens and they help them handle the difficulty during the stage. The parents support the teens until they mature and obligate the capability of being independent without any support. In some of the societies, the teen’s façade rejection due to the behaviors change but the parents supports them because they understand them and they have the knowledge of the various effects that affects the teens. This means that the role of a parent is more important to both the individual and the society.
In conclusion, both the peers and parents are important to the society. The parents create a sensation of acceptance to the teen while the peers create the social identity and good relationship because of age equality. A teenager who is supported by both parent and peers grows up to be decent and respected by the society, on other hand those teens that lack the role models and façade rejection from the society ends up being criminals since the teens refusal affects their future.
