Ways to reduce social loafing;
- Breaking the groups to a smaller number of people and asking them to do work at different turns, inn this case, the groups working on a specific day will be leaner and individual output will be conspicuous.
- Asking members of a group to point out members who do not fully participate and having them penalized.
The original cause of social loafing in this case was that there was a big group and having them work together would minimize the observation of individual member’s contribution, in that case members would perform lesser than they would otherwise do.
Jeff solved the problem by assigning specific sections to specific members and it could clearly be established how much individual members have performed. This clearly helped in identifying the task that each team member should complete.
The cohesion of a group allows coordinated activity and thus effective output. High cohesion ensures that a group works towards a similar goal.

In school there are generally those students who work with the administration improve the welfare of other students. They enjoy celebration by the students and other ‘royalties’ of leadership. They however cannot tell whether those close to them are around them for good will or for favors and enjoy their influence. On the other hand, their activity much as it may be viewed as service to the rest, could be in a broad sense a selfish act of personal satisfaction through influence and power.

Leadership starts from within
Reflection summary:
The article by Robin Sharma tries to show that before one can start to lead an organization, group or family, he must first be able to have leadership over self. If one is to master leadership over other people one has to master self. One has to be able to control and keep in balance his life before he can succeed in bringing other things beyond him in order. Therefore to ensure success in our management of organization and groups, we have to first ensure that we can master ourselves. We can achieve this by building will power that allows us to act against our passions for what we should do. It enables us to do what we should before what we want and act when we should even when we don’t want. By mastering self, then we most certainly can manage others.
Lessons:
Leadership starts from within and when we can lead ourselves from within we most certainly can lead others. It is important for one to be able to personally lead themselves before they try leading others.
