In trying to evaluate how the Development, Relief and Education of Alien minors (DREAM) act would affect life in the United States of America, the quasi-longitudinal study approach was the most appropriate. Various variables to be studied include; impact of the DREAM act on U.S.A and improvement in education levels. Other variables such as effect on country’s global economy, quality and service of the military, change in prevalence of illegal migration, growth and development of alien minors and moral character are important considerations in quasi longitudinal study. DREAM act is a legislative proposal passed in 2010. It was aimed at providing young illegal aliens in the U.S.A, permanent conditioned residency. The conditions were that they be of good moral character, graduate from a U.S high school, and have lived in the U.S for at least 5 years. Also, complete two years at a four year learning institute or two year military service. This act would have great impact on the military, education and country’s economy.
On education, the act would enable more students to attend college and decrease high school drop outs. On the economy, it promises a great turnout for money invested since there would be well skilled and educated personnel. A group of talented multicultural workers would help the country to compete with different innovators across the world. On the military, the act promises the rise to highly qualified recruits since they would be high diploma graduates hence would serve the country better while in uniform. The act would also allow illegal minors to justify their presence in the country hence confirm they are of good morals shortening the way to getting permanent residency.
In conclusion, THE DREAM act would have positive impact in the United States of America overtime. Using the quasi longitudinal study, it can be established that education levels would improve which in turn would improve the economy, military service and good morals.
