The development of science (including the theory of evolution and cosmology) has tried to challenge the design argument in a number of ways. This paper will entirely look at some of the ways in which the theory of evolution has challenged design argument. The paper will use Charles Darwin theory of evolution to show how evolution theories have challenged the design argument
Charles Darwin is one of the people who come up with several theories. One challenge of the design argument has come from the theory of evolution that was proposed by Charles Darwin in 19th century. This theory has challenged the design from its alternative explanation of existence. According to this theory, different species that are found in the world were not created by a designer God. In his theory, Darwin offers a purely mechanical and natural explanation for the creation of life on earth and claims that designing creator was, therefore, redundant. For those people who have always supported the design argument, they will argue that all the natures’ intricacies are work of a designer (God). However, Darwin argues that all these complexities of nature can only be explained by natural mechanism selection (survival for the fittest). In this argument, Darwin claims that all new species evolved from the existing ones without God’s intervention. For those design argument supporters who will argue that all this cannot be a chance, evolution supporters will claim that this world is not a result of chance. They argue that the natural world resulted from natural selection that called complex mechanism.
