INTRODUCTION:
Immigration refers to a movement of people into anther region or country in order to settle where they were not natives. The movement of people into a country may be as a result of several factors which may range from political, social and economic aspects of life or pressures in the countries they come from. The natural disasters and reunification of families may also lead to such movements of people from one country to another. The people may also move from one country or region to another in order to change their surroundings. Immigration is a component of many factors depending on the cause of movement of people from one geographical region or country to live in another either temporarily or permanently (Angel, 2012). Different aspects of life therefore may contribute to immigration.
There is an increased concern towards the increased number of immigrants in the US. This therefore necessitates the need for legislative measures in order to control the number of immigrants in the US by making the immigration procedures strict so as to avoid the chances of decreased in productivity of the economy in the US. The government of the US should make legislative measures in order to control the number of immigrants in the US.
NARRATION:
Immigration revolves around both the push and pull factors in relation the causes of immigration. The push factors relates to the main reasons why people leave their country or region of region. The push factors in this case may therefore refer to the forces like high levels of unemployment may force people to migrate to another region or country where they can access job opportunities so as to boost their standards of living in a country (Mott, 2009). This therefore accounts for labor migration in search of job opportunities which are scarce in their regions or countries of origin. The differentials wage rates therefore leads to migration of people in search of jobs with favorable remunerations and payments. The people therefore seek places or regions where their hard work is fully utilized in return of better benefits that can sustain them as well as boost their standards of living.
The high levels of poverty in the less developed countries force people to migrate to the developed countries in search of job opportunities which enable them to better their living standards. The people often opt to move to the country or region they can access employment so as the transport costs are favorable. The opportunity costs of moving from one country or region to another greatly determines the levels or rate of immigration. The lower opportunity costs leads to higher rates of immigration in order to better their standards of living but the high opportunity costs will discourage immigration because the immigrants will not be able to compensate the cost of moving and living in the native region or country(Mott, 2009). The people from the less developed countries may therefore opt to lose the family and community ties at the expense of working in the foreign regions or countries. The availability of labor in the job opportunities and good standards of living in the developed countries will pull the people from the less developed countries to work in the countries or regions where the jobs are available.
Immigration at times may be at times be compulsory in relation to religious missions and employment contracts. The non-governmental organizations and transitional corporations may transfer their workers to overseas in order to provide services or work on for the company as expatriates. The employees of such transitional corporations are therefore under the contract of service and this amounts to immigration. This kind of immigration may be mandatory due to the terms of the contract. The natural disasters may also accelerate the movement of people into other regions due to poverty levels in the countries of origin.
Education may also play a crucial in contributing to immigration. The high quality facilities in the developed countries may pull the students from the less developed countries in order to have access the high and quality standards of education. Many students therefore migrate to the developed countries and regions in order to have access to quality education services which they cannot access in their countries of origin. In the context of education, the immigrants may be the students doing their research in the foreign countries while carrying out such research.
International immigration refers to a new type of migration where the retired employees move to the countries where the cost of living is lower thereby creating a good climate for their old age. The people may therefore move to countries where they can live freely and in a cool environment.
The other factors causing immigration includes the non-economic factors like religious conflicts which are associated with persecution and oppression of the people. This therefore people to move to regions or countries where they are not oppressed or persecuted in in order to seek refuge and peace. The distorted state of peace is therefore a major contributor to the movement of people from one region or country to another in order to live peacefully in such countries. The conflicts relating to war and genocides may also force people to seek refuge in the foreign countries as well as avoiding the risks and dangers in their own countries of origin. Dictatorship is therefore a factor that heavily contributes to the dissatisfaction of people making them leave such homes of dictatorship in order to live in the peaceful countries and where they can live liberally with freedom of speech and expression. Bullying in some states may also make people to move into the states or regions where they can seek refuge and avoid such bullying activities in their countries or regions of persecution and harassment (Roniger, 2012).
Family reunification, for instance in cases of transitional marriages also leads to immigration where the couple want to live in the new country so as to have good time with the new family. This kind of migration may therefore help the couple to take advantage of the dual citizenship of the two countries.
CONFIRMATION:
The number of the foreign migrants all over the word were estimated to around 200 million as was estimated in the year 2006.this research was done by the International Organization for Migration. The continent which hosted largest number of immigrants was Europe which it hosted more than 70 million immigrants. The Northern America also hosted a greater number of immigrants around 45 million people. The Asian continent also hosts about b25 million people (Sanches, 2010). Currently most of the migrants working in US originates from Asia.
The report of the United Nations in the year 2005 showed the presence of around 191 million migrants internationally. The number of migrants was approximated to be around three percent of the population of the world. The large number of immigrants are in the developed countries where they seek employment and better standard of living.
The US has been welcoming the immigrants to live in the country either temporarily or permanently from different parts and regions of the world. The immigrants are welcomed in the US where they are assimilated into the civic culture. They are integrated into the culture and living conditions of the US. The US have a protocol where the immigrants are taken through in order to fully understand the life in the US so as to live in a manner that cannot contradict that of natives. This also ensures that the immigrants understands the rules and regulations pertaining to conduct of the people in the society. The immigrants are also introduced to the system of government in the US in order to understand the hierarchy of leadership. The process where the immigrants go through when moving into the US is determined whether the immigrants will stay permanently or temporarily. Those who want to stay permanently in the US goes through a detailed process in the immigration department so as to have the accurate details of the individual as well as confirming the reasons and motive of immigration. The complexity of decisions and procedures in the immigration is therefore influenced on the duration that the immigrants will stay in the US.
REFUTATION:
The estimated number of immigrants tend to contradict with the average rate of globalization. This therefore makes the results of the census to be less reliable. Most of the labor migration is concealed therefore the results of the census are not representative of the whole population of immigrants. The information relating to immigration especially the statistical data is useful are not very accurate making them less reliable due to bias and failure to reveal full details of the immigrants. The people who move into some countries while seeking employment opportunities and good standards of living at times end up being mistreated and subjected to torture and persecution by their employees (Sanches, 2010). These cases of persecution of immigrants are common in the Middle East countries like Saudi Arabia where the immigrants are persecuted and mistreated through forced labor. The better employment opportunities that the people seek in foreign countries or regions may end up to be more disadvantageous than those in their countries of origin.
The effects of immigration may also tend to be negative on the economy of the country receiving many immigrants. The wages rates may also go down due to high availability of labor force in such countries. The national identity of individuals may be compromised or threatened by immigration therefore some countries are against immigration. The political ideologies may also consider immigration of ill motive in relation to their racial backgrounds.
The ethical conduct and morality states the way the immigrants should be treated in order to ensure protection of their rights and freedom as thy live in the foreign countries or regions. The treatment is therefore a dynamic issue which has attracted the attention of the public so as to facilitate ethical conduct and treatment of immigrants irrespective of their racial backgrounds.
CONCLUSION:
In conclusion, immigration is an issue of concern since globalization have facilitated the movement of people from one country to another in pursuance of different objectives which may range from business to leisure activities. The effects of immigration are therefore of great concern in the US therefore calls for close attention and legislative measures which should be taken into consideration. People may move from one country in the line of trade and business activities while other may move to other countries to seek job opportunities as well education in the foreign countries. Immigration is therefore a global issue which should be given emphasis in order to ensure proper treatment of immigrants in the countries they stay in. This will also ensure that all immigrants are not mistreated by their bosses in the foreign countries since it is against the human rights.
