A business that thrives in the economy and increases their revenue and profit is a role model business. There are wonderful businesses in different parts of the nation, but some succeed further than the other great businesses. One of the main reasons a business succeeds professionally and flourishes is due to how performance, and leadership is in the business. If a business is productive, skilled, stabilized, and rule abiding then it will have a positive impact in the future. A business will have a better chance of succeeding than a business that does not have leadership, organization, and great performance in the workplace.
One prime example of a business with poor performance and leadership is Woody’s Veneer Factory. The business is in need of evaluation and reassessment from the Industrial and Organizational Psychologists for improvements in the failing business. The IO Psychologist can help with improvements from people and concerning how the business operates. “Communication is a very important component within a business setting” . It is important for everyone to work as a team, and frequently communicate for better understanding of how the operation should be running. Woody’s Veneer Factory has a lack of communication, and uses billboards to update workers on any changes. The leaders are not leading properly, or ethically in the Factory.
The leaders should have meetings scheduled regularly for the employees to be able to voice their opinion and interact with what is going on in the company. The hiring manager should only hire people who have certain qualification for the job, and good standing background check. This will cut down on employees not working and wasting company money. There should be a stabilized working environment with rules set in place. No fighting should be allowed in the work place, and if it happens then discipline should play a factor. The work place should be safe, and free from violent acts and crime.
The workers who were all in on cutting good veneer and wasting it, or stealing it should be fired. Rules need to be followed, and action should be taken if the rules are broken. A good productive work environment will build business not destroy it. The workers who are not doing their jobs, getting into trouble, and causing trouble should be let go, and new responsible workers can be hired. A probationary period should be set in place for new workers, and an incentive program could be set up for the one who do their job without issue.
Once the company gets rid of the non-productive employees then the garbage fee will decrease because will be gone as well. The garbage was increasing because the workers were cutting off good veneer and scrapping it. This made the fee for garbage higher. Profit will increase because there will be workers who will work and follow the rules. There will be no more waste of the product which will help build the profit up. Revenue will increase because of the workers making the product, and the product being sold productively.
If the leaders will start communicating with the employees on a daily basis and get ideas and opinions from the workers then business will increase with a plan. The plan will be made with the workers and leaders in a team work setting. The meetings can strategize what the company needs to succeed together, and a blueprint can be built.
Once the rules are laid down, communication is being exchanged, and employment adjusted then the business will work its’ way back to being ahead and in good standing. Workers will do their jobs if they have good leadership. If a company can lead by example then their workers will follow action. If a company has no leadership, nor communication the company will not be doing well. The employees will not know what is expected of them, and not know what is needed. These ideas is what Woody can do to get his factory back to making money.
