A psychological disorder commonly referred to as a mental disorder is a behavioral pattern or symptoms that affect multiple areas thereby influencing or causing distress on the person who is experiencing such symptoms (McNally2011). It happens that this problem has been therefore very many years. All through, psychologists have tried to find a cure or solution to it but unfortunately, the problem is said to be hard to cure.
In the recent past, researchers and psychologists have maneuvered their way into finding solutions and ways of dealing with the problem of mental illness. The past decade has a seen a change of trend where the treatment has moved from interpersonal methods of treatment and now, cognitive therapies have been embraced. The cognitive therapy sees to it that there is a short term treatment of problems is enhanced rather than one being committed to months or even years of analysis and treatment.
The issue of psychological disorders has greatly influenced the way the subject of psychology is handled more so on the part of the patients and research. Due to the fact that mental illnesses are on the rise, much effort has been put into his field in an effort of curbing this trend. Researchers and psychologists are therefore seeking possible solutions to the problem (Harvey et al 2004).
Studying and analysis of behavior, an area that the book tends to tackle is an area of psychology that is used whenever study of the problem is done. Also, whenever handling a patient with mental problems, analysis of behavior intelligence and their psychological health is paramount an area that is well handled by Feist and Rosenberg (2011). The information found out there about the topic, more so the hard facts and the statistics show a clear picture of what has become of this problem. There is need to engage more on finding quicker solutions to this problem now that there is clear need to curb it.
It is for a fact that psychological disorders are there and that this problem is on the rise. It may be prevalent among the elderly but statistics show that even children, teenagers and young adults are getting mentally ill. The good thing is that there are efforts to find treatment to the various types of illnesses. If only the current efforts are anything to go by, possible solutions are in the offing.
