However, Benito Mussolini emerged in the 20th century in a bid for proper livelihood for the Italians. He had foreseen an opportunity to change the lives of the Italians originally a socialist, Mussolini who founded the Fascist Party was ready to solve the problems that the Italians were facing. He dealt with the cases of unemployment that existed in the country at the time. Also, Italy had been reduced to a political anarchy and people were not in support for the communist form of governance in Italy (Brower and Sanders, 2014). Mussolini changed the form of governance in Italy to ensure exclusive policies for the government.
Why is nationalism and the rise of nation-states (especially after World War II) a barrier to effective collective security agreements?
Nationalism has become a major concern for the nation states after the World War 2 following the extensive interest on the responsibilities of each nation to success of the individual nations. It is concern for most of the nations as they do not want to follow into the traps of oppression by other nations. The superiority of one nation is likely to bring conflict as other countries try to get solutions for the conflicting moments with the superior nations. After the World War 2, nations developed fear and excessive fear towards the rise of a superpower nation. They foresaw manipulation and oppression, which would have derailed their development and growth of the nations. The leadership was not ready for the governance that was controlled by other nations (Dougan & Currie, 2009). Therefore, nations remained sensitive to the nationalism form of governance.
