Dear (name),
I am writing to request the removal of my current suspension status, and ultimately to apologize for the course of my decisions that led to my current situation. I have come to realize that my first choice of academic interest was actually in contrast to my area of academic strength. I genuinely regret that my prior decision to take Chemical Engineering has to be abandoned. This is due to the fact that I am not academically inclined to the study of Chemical Engineering and its academic attributes. Hence, I am writing to reconsider my position in the matter as I plan to change my major from chemical to mechanical this coming semester. In terms of academic strength in the field of Engineering, I am certain that Physics is where I would excel the most, and I am absolutely certain that changing from Chemical to Mechanical would render me impressive academic performance.
If I will be given a second chance, I would prove to the faculty that I am able to accomplish my academic requirements without fail. I believe that one failure is not a manifestation of one’s weakness, but rather a process that one should go through in order to grow. Furthermore, I am hoping that the faculty would acknowledge the fact that my intention to change my major is for me to utilize my inner strength, which was apparently constrained by making a decision to take Chemical Engineering. I understand that I am responsible for my decisions, but as a person with great interest to the field of Engineering my eagerness took me to a wrong direction. However, I would like to reiterate that my request for a second chance is a manifestation of my greatest interest in the discipline, and that I am willing to submit to the requirements of my chosen field of study.
I understand that my reason is not the most compelling, but I am requesting for a second chance so that I could finish my degree, make my parent’s proud and prove to the university I am capable of doing great things, and that I am capable of success. I am hoping that the faculty would reconsider my request. The chance that I am requesting for will be greatly appreciated if granted and will certainly address with diligence and hard work.
Sincerely Yours,
