Question 1
Crime dramas had become common on the cinema screens and rated as the most preferred videos. Even though most of them are watched for entertainment purposes, they usually have a central cultural theme. Films have been found to be the best means through which different cultures can be displayed and united. Personalities are also revealed as well as some of the issues that affect the societies and the efforts of various authorities to handle them. Crime dramas I have watched are aimed at stereotyping characters based on their race, culture, religion and profession. Issues of gender roles have also been highlighted where the man has to play the protective character to the female characters. Where there is crime, various authorities and security personnel are always involved for the purpose of order and justice. Punishment for crime through jail sentences, fines or even death of the culprits seeks to discourage the society from engaging in crime.
There are also cases of organised crimes where authorities are involved. It may be argued that such films encourage crime by teaching people on how they can effectively engage in crime without being found. On the contrary, such films play a vital role in letting the public and other higher officials that the possibility of organised crimes exists. Through the various characters, people are sensitized on the occurrence of such incidence and possible features to look up to (Rafter 76). The crime scenes reveal the fact that there are many innocent people that are made to suffer for the crimes they did not commit while those who are guilty are set free to commit more crime. The films hence reflect the reality of the society and the way different stakeholders handle crime.
Question 2
Fantastical drama is aimed at creating scenes that could become a reality. With such scenes, film directors think of new ways through which a person may decide to operate and even handle a situation. Such drama is aimed at coming up with creative ideas and solutions to problems. It is common for people to get used to routine that they are not able to recognize new inventions being used. Fantastic drama serves as a mind opening to the audience where they are able to have an open mind concerning issues they are familiar. Fantastical dramas may also not have real characters but use figurative features just to bring up a particular idea (Byers & Val 48). They are subject to various interpretations and may be classified as fictional. Even though what is being shown is not real, it can be used to come up with intelligent ideas on how to handle certain issues.
Realistic drama has a greater impact on the society as many people can relate to it. The drama does not hence only serve the entertainment purpose but also enlighten and inform the audience. The drama is usually created out of real life scenarios such as terrorist attacks. The films act as a reminder especially to the people that were affected. After a major crime or attack, investigations are usually launched to determine the cause, affected victims and finally report on what can be done to avoid future incidences. Film directors come up with a play that seeks to inform and caution the public of what happened using the investigations. Through such drama, healings facilitated as well as strategies that will enhance the safety of people.
