Introduction
The video is about a soldier who is sent to war in Iraq. He remembers clearly one time when they were on the top of a building and they were political demonstrations some two miles away. He then saw a young man approach the crowd holding a grenade on his hand. He does not remember squeezing the trigger or watching the young man fall down, but he clearly recalls some two people coming outside the building and pulling the body inside. He never felt the same again. He went into a dark room a counted his magazine.
He found out that he had shot 11 bullets at the young man.
Contingency theory seeks to reveal meaning behind human behavior by apprehension of human thought process. The assumption that proponents of this theory make is that all human actions have a logic sense. They argue that human being are logical people, therefore, all their actions should and have to make sense. However, from the documentary, Camila-the soldier, did not think going to war against Iraq made any political sense as the political leaders alleged. On the other hand, tenets of human behavior argue that all human actions are purposeful. He knew that they were not in danger and he should not compromise on their security.
On the other hand, he had a conscience and would sit and watch the young man killed hundreds of innocent people. This is clearly explained by contingency theory as it derives sense out of a murder. The theory posits that the murder of one person makes sense instead of letting that person kill a hundred innocent people.
