Stewardship can be regarded as an act of self discipline whereby in involves how one manages and uses the resources that are available to them in a manner that will yield beneficial gains. It is an act of responsibility. From Cambridge University dictionary stewardship is defined as the conducting, managing or supervision of a resource; this means careful use of allocated resource in a responsible way that is entrusted upon someone for care. An example can be when as a student, you are given allowance to take care of your personal needs hence it is required that one has stewardship qualities to handle the money well.
As students responsible use of the much needed allowance showcases basic responsible acts of the level of stewardship in someone. As guardians work hard to provide the basic necessities to any of their children they also expect that as a responsible young person one should be able to do their part in management of the given resources be it in terms of use of home resources or given responsibilities. At home, the young lads are required to perform the house chores left behind since it is natural and required for one to do them. When these duties are not performed to the required standards or underperformed then a conflict of interest between the guardian and the children occurs. In this case scenario the parent/guardian regards this as a case of lack of stewardship and trust issues may come up. On the contrary once the person involved performs the duties in accordance to what was required then it is a bonus on their part as he/she will be regarded as a good steward, hence even more responsibility may be awarded.
As the bible passage referred to says, a person to whom knows what is required of them but decides to go their own way and not perform these duties then consequences in terms of punishment will be unavoidable. The person will be due for punishment regarding this matter and since they know what is required of them they will suffer even more consequences compared to that one who did not know what is required of them and didn’t also perform that duty. That being said it is prudent for all to be responsible since everyone who is supposed to be answerable to their own actions. When a bigger responsibility is given even more is required in that they will have a wider scope to make sure everything is on track. Power comes with responsibility.
