Winning a contract is the ideal goal of many companies seeking tenders from different organizations. Landing a contract provides a good portfolio for future transactions with other clients. Therefore, it is ideal for any company to study and understand tender details provided by the client then come up with a team that will help to win the contract. It is necessary for one to consider several factors when considering another partner in one’s pursuit of winning tenders. Moreover, one has to understand the role required to play in different situations and gear them towards a specific contract. The research paper will look into two companies that received subcontracts from the Department of Homeland Security and why cyber security will be an ideal contract to pursue.
The Department of Homeland Security has one of the largest budgets in the United States of America and provides opportunities for the citizens to contest the contracts (Subcontractors, 2016). It appoints prime contractors, who provide the work to sub-contractors as a way of providing opportunities for the common citizen. Northrop Grumman is one of the prime contractors, providing DHS with innovative technologies and solutions, which are in line with its mission requirements towards the support of Unrestricted EAGLE II (Subcontractors, 2016). The company has a list of subcontractors that it feels comfortable working with such as Altron Inc., Criterion Systems Inc., and SimonComputing Inc. among others. The proposed company will choose any two companies from the list generated by Northrop Grumman to vouch for them. Their previous relation with the company is enough to understand their legibility in the business.
Working with the Department of Homeland Security’s cyber division will provide a great portfolio for the company, while working with the subcontractors from Northrop Grumman will assure better returns and boost performance. Subcontractors can be a major obstacle towards prime contractors’ especially new companies as they might fail to meet the set goals and targets. The proposed company will work together with other industry players to forge proper steps towards completing the contracts.
