Summarize the importance of planning for an act of terrorism and how you would assess your risk to these types of threats
Preparedness and effective planning play a vital role in business continuity in emergencies and calamities including terrorist attacks, tornadoes, fires, and floods. All businesses should have primary and contingency plans for terrorist attacks to ensure the safety of employees and assets. The businesses should also have plans and alternatives for continuing business activities and functions after an act of terrorism. The increasing incidences of terrorism, bombings, and shooting amplify the significance of planning and preparedness for acts of terrorism. The increasing rate of terrorism and terrorist attacks around the world including the 9/11 attacks reiterate the importance of preparedness and planning. Although most terrorist attacks including bombings and shootings differ in nature, but business need to prepare and plan for emergencies. Planning plays a vital role in the preparedness of the organization and employees to cope with the events that occur during a terrorist act. Effective planning and preparedness also enables organizations to survive, recover, and continue business after the act of terrorism. There are numerous organizations that have diverse plans in this regard because such plans prove beneficial for them. An organization cannot prosper without proper planning of such acts because it is highly probable that they cannot continue their operations swiftly without such scenarios. The basic aspect an organization should focus on is the fact that proper communicational channel should take place and they should develop an exit plan for the safe passage of employees. These important scenarios can save the lives of hundreds and benefit an organization.
