Life is all about overcoming obstacles. Sometimes, one has to face unexpected events that complicate one’s journey. Nevertheless, what is important is that one rises up to the challenge, so as to be greater than the hardships they propose. I faced such a dilemma in my third semester of studying to become a dental hygienist at SUNY Orange: I realized I was pregnant, giving birth during my finals. Logically, my grade point average went down significantly prior to last semester, which I deeply regret. However, I feel that I should still be accepted to City Tech in New York due to my ability to rise above the challenge and my will to keep studying.
Obviously, this was happening was not easy for me. Since I was little, I have wanted to be a dental hygienist, helping people out through their health issues. Nevertheless, I became pregnant, which hindered my ability to study and assist classes. This was complicated by a third degree tear, and the simultaneity of my final exams with my baby’s birth. I took the choice to be brave, something that I am profoundly happy and grateful for, as I really love my child.
In conclusion, I think that I should be considered in your prestigious university because I am a fighter, and have proven to rise above the problems that I may be faced with. Even though my Grade Point Average was low in one semester, this responded to extraordinary circumstances, and I am now stronger for it. I know I will make the best of this situation!
