Dq Week Six Three
Introduction
With the emergence of many companies that produce similar goods, the human resources management has been taken to task to think over new ways of motivating employees. This is done with an aim of realizing better results and retaining a quality workforce. Moreover, currently, most employees work in groups or rather teams. As such, there it is essential to motivate employees at an individual and team level. This paper seeks to discuss whether or not there is a difference between team and individual motivation.
A team comprises of individuals who work together with an aim of achieving a set goal. Team work is essential since it not only reduces an individual`s work load, but also enhances efficiency. This is because it brings together people with different ideas. It is, therefore, necessary for managers and team leaders to motivate their team members. This can be through awarding the best team in the organization, sharing information, organizing team building outdoor activities, listening carefully, and praising them in instances of good performance. On the other hand, individual motivation is drawn towards one person with an aim of making him or her improve her performance. An individual can be motivated through awards, increase in salary, and inspiration.
There is no much difference between individual and team motivation. This is because teams are formed by individuals. Therefore, one has to start by either motivating individuals or a team at large. Nonetheless, team motivation is cost effective to organizations which lack adequate resources. This is because by motivating a team, an individual will in turn feel motivated.
Conclusion
There is no clear difference between team and individual motivation. This is because individuals form teams. Therefore, motivating a team is as good as motivating a team at large.
