Technology has proved to be essential for human existence in the present world. Technology transverses all fields and demands critical evaluation in ethical aspects. This is a research on the IT related technology and related ethical issues. This is a critical topic for discussion following the fact that there is skiing urge by many people across the world to embrace the use of information technology. On the same note, there is a need to shun all the activities which might pose a threat to the ethical principles. In addition to this, the positive personal attributes should be safeguarded for the betterment of correlation in the societies.
In the emerging Information technologies, there is an element of ethical issues exposed to decay. The various technologies such as the internet, games, communication and the search engines pose a great threat to the ethical guidelines.
Because of the concerns from both the individuals and some organizations which, depends on the information technology. There have been queries as to whether there is any restoration mechanisms to those people whose ethical principles have been compromised by the technology. Some of these technologies for instant search engines may expose youths to pornographic materials which, is a pure embodiment to moral decay. Once an individual is addicted to pornography it is very hard for them to be rehabilitated.
Another question is, do these IT materials of social empowerment to the people who are using them? This question again needs a comprehensive response. For example, it can be realized that most of the sites are for social interaction for instance, internet but you find that there is the lack of fairness that is an ethical principle. This is because one depends on the technology for social interaction, and also there is an aspect of lies because people do not know each other better.
In addition, is there a way in which people can be compelled to use the IT wisely without breaching the norms and values of ethics in society? This is again a critical consideration of course majority especially the parents would like to responsible children. On the contrary, the underage is in most cases access the technology for wrongful purposes hence ethical values are compromised. Throughout my research, I will prefer gaming.
Gaming
Regulation
Regulation in gaming has been a serious challenge in the society since people have different opinions and guiding norms. It is imperative to understand that computer gaming is a complex issue, and the developers might breach the accepted cords of conduct unknowingly. The gaming aspect depicts many situations in the social aspect of life and requires proper scrutiny.
Violence
There are some computer games that depict greater degree of violence. Consider the situation in which most of the game consumers are children. The children may develop a mentality of violence and together with curiosity in them; they might desire implementing the actions practically. In addition, the adult has also breached most ethical principles by embracing violence depicted in the games. Consider games such as Doom and Resident Evil. However, it is an individual decision in every case.
Addiction
Most of the games are addictive to their consumers. The addiction of computer games is prominent among children and professionals. For instance, children might boycott their studies or lessons due to the games. Similarly, the professionals may manifest poor performance at work due to the computer games. In this case, the former puts their future at risk whilst the latter compromises their productivity.
Gender stereotyping
The games depict common thoughts amongst both gender differently. Inasmuch as the situations exposed occur mostly, they are not common to all. There is total dominance of the male gender in the games. For instance, the games such as Super Mario depict men as being strong and so their role is to protect women. In addition, the Gears of War also depict that males are strong as compared to the female characters. The sex stereotype manifested in this case is not a common experience is not fair as the females also have strengths.
