RESEARCH PAPER ON VMWARE SECURITY
VMware is a company that specializes in software development mainly software that involve virtualization and cloud service. The company had its inception in the year 1998 but since 2004 has been a subsidiary of the Emc Corporation. VMware desktops can run on Linux, Microsoft windows and Mac os.
VMware technological improvements have gone a long way in ensuring internet usage security and privacy. The company has done a great deal to improve the endpoint security. The VMware vssie4ld is a revolutionary anti-virus management system that has changed people’s use and understanding of antivirus software all over the world. This software makes the management of anti-viruses more realistic and less virtual thus enhances its users’ understanding of exactly how their anti-virus systems work and makes it extremely easier to notice malfunctions and correct them in good time before any real damage can be done. This software enhances virtualization, security and brings a measure of enhancement with regard to endpoint protection. This is achieved by offloading AV processing units to a very secure virtual appliance which is supplied by partners of the VMware Corporation (Warren, p.87). This goes a long way in automating anti-virus deployment and anti-malware monitoring. It also ensures satisfaction and fulfillment of compliance requirements and audit requirements with regard to anti-virus logs as well as anti-malware logs which note and record activity for posterity. This also greatly improves the performance of anti-virus systems. This is achieved through the complete elimination of anti-virus storms and other related complications.
VMware has also introduced the concept of virtualization of desktops and mobile computing. This transforms the productivity of the available workforce tremendously. This is achieved through the transformation of old desktops, old applications and old data into mobile it services that are indeed centrally managed. This transformation ensures that the new system is always consistent and reduces rates of redundancy (Muller, p.97). This also ensures that the new systems are always in compliance with current systematic requirements and complications. It also ensures that data when sent can indeed be delivered securely and intact without any damages or complications whatsoever to any device that may need the data.
VMware desktops and laptops are also revolutionary in terms of their performance capability and performance quality and duration. These desktops and laptops enable users to do more on a single laptop or desktop that was previously unimaginable and unconceivable. They have made it extremely easy to run programs from windows on a Mac directly at home. They have made it possible to simultaneously run multiple applications on multiple and different operating systems. They have also made it easy to test your system for hidden anomalies and malfunctions. On detection of any malfunction this new technology has made it extremely easy to debug the system, isolate the anomaly and correct it in minimal time thus enhancing efficiency and productivity of users. This technology has also made it possible and extremely easy for users to develop and build entire clouds right at home using their desktop or their lap top.
VMware has also developed a data center based on virtualization. This enables users to consolidate their servers and virtualizes them with the greatest of ease for efficiency and a more enjoyable environment during usage. It also enables users to virtualize networking and also consolidate it thus enhancing understanding of networking and the mechanics behind it. It also gives users the ability to consolidate the security infrastructure of their system and also virtualizes it (Lowe, p.102). This enables the users to have a clear comprehension of security related complications as soon as they arise and also guides the user on the appropriate course of action to take in relation with the arising security complication so as to ensure smooth running of the system and minimize or eliminate entirely any damages that may result.
The company has also developed management tools with reference to infrastructure management which have gone a very long way in increasing the comfort of the users. Management using the right tools can ensure that cloud infrastructures which are of a hybrid nature and which have been virtualized achieve new and higher levels with regard to their agility. VMware has developed management products of a comprehensive nature which are especially designed for the software defined environment for data center which is of a dynamic nature. These products have revolutionized the concept of provision of high quality service by providing the highest quality service available (Muller, p.52). These products have also greatly improved the operational efficiency of systems by ensuring that they work exactly in line with every desire of the user. Compliance of systems with the commands of the users has also been enhanced and made more realistic and achievable. These products also give the users more and detailed insight into each and every minute aspect with regard to virtualized infrastructures and virtualized applications.
The VMware configuration and compliance manager enables the automation of key compliance as well as configuration management tasks. This development also supports management of configuration across both physical servers and virtual servers. This management and configuration has also been made possible and realistic across multiple operating systems simultaneously.
VMware has done a lot in the improvement of both software technology and hardware technology. They have made it easy for users to manage and configure their systems with minimal difficulty and maximum understanding.
