- Advantages of Using Archival Methods
Archival method allows one to study how men and women use different statements in e-mails by allowing a wide coverage of data and across long time spans. This means that the data to be analyzed will be distributed over a wide period of time including those of earlier times.
Disadvantages of Using Archival Methods
Archival method makes use of the publicly available data and therefore it has a limitation in accessing private information that might be necessary for research. Some of the statements made by people might not used in e-mails but can be applied verbally that can be accessed by survey methods (McNeill & Chapman, 2005).
- Advantages of Using Naturalistic Observation
Naturalistic observation avoids the mistake of making the subjects under study to be aware that might make them alter their behavior. Thus, observational data will be accurate.
Disadvantages of Using Naturalistic Observation
The observer may not be able to determine the characteristics that make people spend long time in the grocery store and therefore it becomes impossible to control the experiment for outside variables. In addition, different observers are likely to draw varied conclusion even from the same observed experiment (Kothari, 2005).
- Advantage of Survey Method
Survey method makes use of reports from people on their choice of a certain politician and hence the data is reliable.
Disadvantage of Survey Method
One disadvantage with survey method is that the data collected may only be reliable depending on the honesty, memory, motivation and the ability of respondents to respond adequately (Kothari, 2005).
- Advantage of the Case Study Method
This method is advantageous in the sense that it is a good and reliable source of ideas about a child with autism’s behavior.
Disadvantage of the Case Study Method
Data collected from the case study may not be sufficient to draw generalized conclusions since it might be biased (Kothari, 2005).
- Ethical Concerns When Conducting Research
Some of the ethical concerns that must be addressed when conducting research are the reliability of the data to be collected, the appropriateness of the research methodology, and the originality of the research and also avoid plagiarism (Kumar, 2009).
