Civil rights movement and contemporary politics are aspects that are surrounding the United States and it is all related to immigration. Rights have been made into bills, but still not much has been put into consideration. The reason behind such a perception is based on the fact that race determines the contents of the American community. Immigration to the U.S has changed over the years in a number of ways. First and foremost, compared to their initial stage of immigration, the black American’s have gained a tremendous positive difference (Romano & Raiford, 2010, 26).
It is true because they have gained more rights in terms of employment and equal opportunities in US. The black American are said to be competing for the same equal rights as the whites, and hence it shows that things have changed. In addition, women, especially, white women are now gaining more opportunities as compared to the white-men. Such an outcome has been as a result, of the issue of meritocracy. Therefore, immigration has increased as compared to the initial stage of immigration, but their welfare has not been improved when compared to Hispanics, Whites and black Americans (Bloom, 2009, 76).
Race
The issue of race has changed over time especially among my family members. In terms of race, we have been favored in such a way that we are being considered in terms of life style change and employment. This has clearly been seen where the black Americans have joined corporate welfare unions with the intention of being offered better opportunities. It is an aspect that has worked as our way of life style has changed dramatically (Romano & Raiford, 2010, 78).
Economics
The economic status of our life style has changed as well as my parents are earning more. In addition, they are being respected at their place of work not based on their color of the skin, but their qualifications. As a result, they are able to hold bigger positions and earning relatively at the same rate as the whites (Bloom, 2009, 19).
Immigration
It is true to say that about 90% of individuals living the United States are immigrants or descendants’ of immigrants since the Native population is about !% of the total population. After my family moved in the U.S; there has been build a fence in Northern border of California. It is an approach that has been into consideration with the intention of reducing immigration. Furthermore, immigration has not been such a good thing for immigrants as they have been deprived of the same rights as the locals (Romano & Raiford, 2010, 9).
The future answer for “the immigration question” lies in the immigration of conceptions of race. It is true about the mentioned perception based on the fact that race will always be an aspect that defines a person for who he or she is in the society. The same can be said about the question of immigration as a certain race wills always preferences. The race that a person belongs to will define their future based on the fact that people are not going to agree on equal opportunities even if it is put into law (Bloom, 2009, 25). The fact is that laws have been drawn since immigration began and not much has changed based on the issue of race. Therefore, the introduction of the Civil Rights Movement is of significance as it was designed with the intention of generating an atmosphere of equality among all races in America.
