In a couple of last years the activity of different terrorist groups has gone up. The most know is a catastrophe of 9/11 where almost three thousand people became victims. After hearing the number, one may think that it is the maximum what they can do, but it is far from being true. As technologies develop, terrorist may acquire new weapons, including weapons of mass destructions like nuclear missiles or poison gas dispensers. With this kind of magnitude, the number of victims can grow up to tremendous hundreds of thousands or eve millions.
In case the worst case scenario is going to happen, the events in the epicenter will be only the half of the problem. The main impact will be on the rest of the society as they will always be living in fear and they will suspect a terrorist in each other, which will consequently lead to murders based on unjustified self-defense. Moreover, after such event, the economics will also be ruined, as most of the funds will be used to compensate the shambles in the infrastructure after the destructions.
All in all, the all-hazard approach to homeland security is the best solution as it will allow people to sleep well, without worrying about the next day, however it is not good to throw all resources on it and not to be fanatic about it. There should be a systematic approach to everything and the security is not an exception. Basic points that should be followed are: outlawing terror weapons, risk analysis, and inspection of every person and freight who enters the country (Carter, Deutsch and Zelikov, 2016). Should these points be followed, it will greatly reduce the chances for the catastrophic terrorist event to happen.
