The house that had been built across the street was owned by a Tallmadge sister. In the year 1941 it was the Japanese consulate and had been occupied by adults who were not related in any way. The adults seemed to be made up of a therapy group. There was also another neighboring house that was owned by a synanon. I can remember seeing a rental sign in one of the houses that were around the Conner that was once a Canadian consulate. The house contained 28 rooms and two close sets that were refrigerated. The house would only be rented on a monthly basis while unfinished. As a result of this neighborhood only composed of therapy groups, rock and roll bands as well as the old women who were wheeled down by practical nurses in uniforms. This gave my family a hard time in that neighborhood.Excerpts from the testimony of a murder trial of Thomas Ferguson and Paul Ferguson brothers aged 17 and 22 respectively are quite clear. The brothers had murdered by the name Ramon Navarro aged 69 in his in Canyon, not very far from my family house. The trial was quite challenging and full of confusion and humor. This is because the younger brother’s girlfriend testified that she had stopped been in love with him. She testified that she was totally unaware of Mr. Navarro’s career as an actor until she was shown during the night of the murder a photograph showing him as Ben-Hur. The older brother also tried his best to give the definition of a hustler when he was requested by the jury. The definition was full of humor “A hustler is someone who can talk to men as well as women, a person who can cook, can as well keep company and wash a car”. On the other hand, each of the brothers accused the other of murder during the trial and this led to them being convicted. They were convicted, not because of availability of evidence but the contradiction that they had between themselves that showed that they must have been involved in the murder.I met one of the principals in yet another Los Angeles murder trial. The star witness in the side of prosecution by the name Kasabin. The trial was known as Manson Trial. Kasabin had gone through a lot of challenges at the time of the trial, but she did not belief that chance was without a pattern. This is because she operated on what can be termed as dice theory. The verses that I always said as I left the house had a great effect on me of a physical chill that was so insistently. This is because it seemed a kind of ironic detail that the reporters would seize upon just the morning the bodies were found. This is because, in my neighborhood, we did not open the door wide for the strangers such as Paul and Tommy Ferguson. Paul and Tommy were strangers to Navarro’s door. I always knew where the towels and sheets were kept, but I always did not know, but I knew all the directions, but I did not always know many strangers would come knocking at the door, but it always required second thinking so that the strangers would not turn out be harmful.
