The wind power is a system of a natural energy production. The wind turbines use an energy of a wind to generate electricity. Energy production from the wind is a complicated topic. Having both the advantages and disadvantages, the wind power should be evaluated thoroughly on such vitally important criteria as: an influence on human health, a creation of the new working places, a choice of the wind turbines locations, а search for the new, alternative renewable energy sources.
Human health, the priceless treasure, must stay first in the wind power evaluation list. The wind power production may cause the human health problems. Due to a noise, the turbines make, people may suffer from the headaches, ringing or buzzing in the ears, vertigo, sleep disturbance, irritability, rapid heart rate, panic episodes, dizziness and other terrible symptoms. There is even an official name for the diseases caused by the windmills. It is known as a wind turbine syndrome. So, the wind energy production influences badly on human health.
Can the health problems be compensated by the fact, that the wind power projects give a job to people? The wind power projects demand the creation of the new working places. People get the new jobs, Earth gets the energy. The statistics say that the windmills are simple in maintenance: 12-15 wind turbines require only 1 low-paid worker (wind-power-problems.org). Most of the employees, involved in wind energy projects, sit in the cozy offices, far away from the mills. Thus, the wind power projects do not give a big potentiality to provide people with the new jobs, and do not solve unemployment issues.
Wind is a perfect source of energy, because it is everlasting. Wind will be always and for free! Except the disadvantages mentioned above, there is another imperfection that this energy source has. The wind can never be predicted. The companies that deal with wind energy projects are to be very careful in determining wind turbine layout, power curve, thrust curve, wind speed before deploying the wind turbines and their location. It must be mentioned that the locations with the windmills are not very attractive as the tourist places, and the places to live near, because they may cause the health problems. The choice of the wind mills location must be carefully calculated regarding the humans distance to the turbines and the natural environment peculiarities.
The listed above wind power projects imperfections should make the scientists find the alternative to the wind renewable energy sources. It can be a hydropower, geothermal energy, hydrogen, biomass energy, and even ocean energy. Solar energy should open the list of the renewable energy sources. There are a lot of applications where the sunlight power can be used: water heating, generating electricity, support of the home conveniences, like, heating, lighting, cooling. Solar energy can be applied to the various issues of the industrial processes. Hydropower is one of the commonly used all around the world source of energy. The power of flowing water is the power of nature, as it is a part of the evaporation and precipitation cycle and the strong energy generator. The alternative to the wind renewable energy sources exist and mankind should find the ways to develop and to use them.
Evaluating the wind power solution, it comes evident this solution is not a panacea. In the wind power appraisal there are the pros and cons. Causing harm to human health, the wind power projects do not give the additional working places, influence badly on the locations where the mills are set. Modern society should do everything possible and impossible to rationalize the current solutions, choose carefully the projects locations, and to find the new advanced approaches.
