1. I chose this course because it provides the opportunity to review the status of the social work, severity of the problems, which social workers will have to decide in future. Social work presents a complex process that has a long history of becoming constantly changing in the cultural and historical perspective. The nature and form of this education is extremely varied, reflecting the specificity of social work as a profession. In addition, this course focuses on the formation of a reinforced motivation to work independently in the different administrative structures of the social sphere.
2. Scope of the social worker is associated with psychological support of people or social groups in need of assistance to overcome difficulties. Such a specialist should be well prepared in various spheres of social interaction. If we consider the duties of a social worker in more detail, we can see the following aspects: this work leads to social change, helping people to understand the relationship and adapt to living in society. In this work the specialists are guided by the theory of human behavior and social systems. The priority for the social worker are human rights and social justice.
3. My current beliefs, ideas, and thoughts of social work came from my education. Now I understand that the system of knowledge necessary to the competent social worker, is becoming increasingly complex. Students should be aware of the development of new knowledge in their field of science influencing practice. It is also important to know about new groups of customers, clients and patients about changing laws and regulations related to professional practice.
4. The most interesting in this course seemed to understand and interpret the history of profession, the modern structure and problems in the US. It helped me to be able to think critically in the professional practice of social work. Now I can understand the forms and mechanisms of oppression and discrimination, apply security policy and social changes that lead to social and economic justice.
