Traditional Shopping Vs Online Shopping
Online shopping is a form of electronic commerce where a customer directly purchases goods from a seller over the internet. Conventional shopping on the other hand is a regular practice which has been used by a great number of people for years. The progressions in technology have helped in creating a virtual world within the actual one. This virtual world has provided us a way of shopping from the luxury and comfort of our homes. A large number of shopping channels have been introduced and highly educated people with a high amount of income correspond to shopping online. Online shopping has introduced shopping cart software where it is easy to accumulate items to be purchased, like filling a cart while shopping in a traditional mall.
Many times the consumer signs up a permanent online account; were the items are entered and then confirmed through email and the transaction is made, payment too is made electronically. Once the payment is made the product is delivered in ways suitable to the customer, on the other hand; the traditional shopping the consumer has to drive long ways through traffic to a shopping mall, then go hunting around for the items in the list and for paying at times stand in a long cue. This way they spend a lot of time before finally carrying their purchase home. However, in online shopping the consumers and the merchants are at a high risk of fraud. Hackers steal names, addresses, and credit card numbers by breaking into the merchants’ web making them face difficulties in purchasing their products. The consumers are at times fooled by the venders, as they presume that they are dealing with reputed retailers because the system used is manipulated by a malicious party. This seldom happens during traditional shopping as both the buyers and sellers are face to face with each other and hence the chances of treachery are less.
Online shopping is available 24 hours and 7 days a week which is very convenient for working people, but the shipment could take a couple of days to be delivered to your house, which is not helpful for items required immediately. Instead, in traditional shopping the purchases required instantly are with you without the waiting time.
Traditional shopping is also a kind of entertainment especially with friends and family. After long days of hard work they group up and go out shopping into malls purchasing things of their choice after enjoying window shopping; however, online shopping is deprived of this fun time. Moreover, after shopping they even go to the food courts and enjoy a meal together.
Although online shopping has brought great ease, and price selection on sale items is located easily, many times free shipment is also made; the customer may know the retail price and not the total cost with additional charges and taxes. On the contrary, in traditional shopping the customer is aware of the total cost inclusive of taxes.
Seeing and touching is a desire of the customer especially while buying certain things such as, jewellery, clothes, baby stuff, cars etc. Just by merely seeing these on the website does not satisfy the customers, as they have to feel the quality of the materials used and the drive of the car and so on. This can only be done during conventional shopping and not online.
